Who are some characters that you think could experience and push through Return by Death the same way Subaru does?

Even after reading the books, she was calm until she left Subaru. she remained calm for a while after the Subaru form disappeared. Then everything suddenly hit her. All this pain and experience.

@AlcoDs666 @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu He had some loss of sensation maybe, in the wrath if he had his arm cut and he castrised the wound with fire. That is probably a loss of pain as in that route he lost Subaru and his fixation on echidna as he deemed his goal impossible. Still itd an if route so im not sure

@charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu Wasn't Roswaal's condition due to the loss of bodily sensations as a result of body-swapping? Partially. That's why I remember him becoming desensitized to pain and losing his sense of taste, and so on.

In Petra’s case it was love

@AlcoDs666 @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu Fan theory of mine, I think she differed from the other witches because of one thing being Hope, she believed in a better future 100% with her entire being by entrusting everything to Subaru in the reset. This would tie into all the hope authority theories that Subaru has

@__Razoon @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu Yeah, really, Conry is audible. But I think Tappei managed to write this well. Just when Petrabaru is about to give up in despair, Ghostbaru calls out to him, praises him, and Petrabaru gains willpower from Suabru. Seriously, Arc9 did a pretty good job of this.

@AlcoDs666 @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu Using the power of “love”(sounds corny as hell now that im typing it). This separates her from AL or other characters like roswall,Elsa,echidna etc who had to blatantly throw away their humanity. Petra of course still threw that away at the end but it came from a different place

@__Razoon @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu yes that's an huge achievement. It's not just impossible. I think Beatrice or Emilia could probably do it too. It annoys me that some people are using this to say that the other camp members are even worse than children, even though this is Petrabaru not petra.

@AlcoDs666 @charlemagne_fig @Hecavimu I don’t even think in the first place binary eclipse or BOD re-create the feeling of od shattering that wouldnt make sense with the lore. Petra however did use Subarus mentality to endure the pain before death which is still substantial without resorting to becoming desensitised

@charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu Still, what affected her most at that moment were Subaru's emotions. For Petra, they were too powerful to handle. So she used the power of melancholy. And she made all the emotions and pain happen instantly, end instantly, and disappear in a second.

@charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu binary eclipse just about sending others painful memories and making them recall their own painful memories. This isn't the same thing as experience. And Petra, at that moment, was overwhelmed by the willpower of Subaru's guilt, more than the pain of rbd.

@AlcoDs666 @__Razoon @Hecavimu I think she survived because of Subaru’s ideology seeping into her mind and allowing her to prevail over Roy’s Binary Eclipse. Just like Subaru survives RBD because of his absurd level of love towards others, Petra does the same

@Dorwni @charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu In fact, if you prepare yourself, it's possible to not feel nearly any pressure from reading books at all. Ezzo was able to read a lot of books without feeling pressured thanks to this.

@Dorwni @charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu Rui wasn't completely devastated by all of it. She's even surprised that Subaru endured it so many times. She herself was broken by the deaths in the tower. Memories and experiences aren't the same. That's the main point of this arc.

@charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu Yet, like Petra, she seems to have endured while connected to a part of Subaru. Only when separated from Subaru did she go mad.

@charlemagne_fig @__Razoon @Hecavimu The Book of Death/Memories doesn't seem to possess this quality. The difference between memories and direct experience is clearly demonstrated, as in Rui's case. She relied on memories, but direct experience shattered her.
