15 year old son was up at 6 to catch a train in to the city for work experience at his dream job, an AFL club (which happens to be his favourite) Kid is dyslexic and can’t read or write very well but has always loved sport. Seeing my boy turn in to a man before my eyes has been more complex than I expected. Intense pride tinged with a sliver of grief and longing for the little boy this wonderful young man has replaced. The healthy separation of the parental bond was more subtle with the girls. Motherhood is such a wild ride full of unexpected twists and turns. It’s hard to believe I was never going to have kids.

As we approach the Giggle v Tickle decision, it’s important to remember that there were two main “interveners” in this case. Lesbian Action Group intervened to argue that men cannot be women or lesbians (duh). Equality Australia, one of the biggest LGBTQI+ orgs in the country & an org that was created specifically to campaign for *same-sex marriage*, intervened specifically *against* Lesbian Action Group arguing that sex is a spectrum and men who claim to be women can be lesbians.
