The Diary Of A Social Gal (Stephanie Dolce)
Groundbreaking Series “Meet Me in the Penalty Box” Exposes Toxic Masculinity and Systemic Failures in the NHL Nyack, NY – February 3, 2026 – Author Stephanie Dolce, known as The Diary Of A Social Gal on X (@AxTheEx), announces the release of “Meet Me in the Penalty Box,” a hard-hitting investigative series that pulls back the curtain on the toxic masculinity culture entrenched in the National Hockey League (NHL) for generations. Part One of the series launches exclusively in paperback on February 14, available at barnesandnoble.com. In “Meet Me in the Penalty Box,” Dolce delves into the pervasive issues of domestic violence and sexual assault within professional hockey, highlighting how the NHL stands alone among major sports leagues without a comprehensive policy to protect victims. The series traces the roots of this toxic culture back to the junior hockey ranks, where young players are molded into conforming to aggressive, hyper-masculine behaviors that prioritize silence and endurance over accountability and empathy. Dolce’s work goes beyond the ice, examining how players often select partners who become easy targets for abuse—spouses conditioned to accept minimal respect and keep the cycle of violence hidden behind closed doors. Through compelling narratives and unflinching analysis, the series calls for urgent reform, challenging the NHL to confront its legacy and implement safeguards that prioritize victim safety and cultural change. “This series is a wake-up call,” said Dolce. “For too long, the NHL has allowed a culture of toxic masculinity to flourish unchecked, starting from junior leagues and extending into players’ personal lives. It’s time to address the domestic violence and sexual assault that have been swept under the rug, and demand policies that protect everyone involved.” “Meet Me in the Penalty Box: Part One” is an the first installment in what promises to be a transformative exploration of hockey’s dark underbelly. I’m not a Santa Clara fan but they got absolutely hosed to end this game. Coach is clearing calling a TO after the 3 with 2 seconds left and the ref ignores it

@MJTruths @UnitedWeZag the rule a coach can call a timeout only when the ball is dead or when their team has clear possession of the ball during live play. Coaches cannot call timeouts when the opposing team has control or in live-ball situations where the team does not have definite possession #ncaa

@AxTheEx @UnitedWeZag No, they didn't. I'm a nerd, so I freeze framed it. He started calling time out when the Kentucky player was still gathering the loose ball from the inbounds side. The Kentucky player still hadn't gotten behind the baseline yet. So, no, they technically didn't have poss.

Herb Sendek on not getting a timeout before Oweh's game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation: "I unequivocally called timeout but they didn’t grant it. I mean, I think the video evidence is clear."

I learned something after the game…a Coach can call Timeout after a made basket up until the point the other team grabs the ball Herb Sendek didn’t call it until Aberdeen grabbed it. Thus under the rule, he was late

Lot of people complaining about the refs in UK/SC - they were NOT good but did not decide that game Sendek tried to call a timeout but ref running away & ball got inbounded so quickly. They did miss a foul on Graves, travel in OT on Otega. But SC also executed so poorly in OT, could have fouled up 3 in regulation.

It’s insane the ref missed Santa Clara’s coach yelling & running at him trying to call a timeout after the clutch 3 vs Kentucky. The ref even looks back & still misses him…

Thats the bigger problem but he should’ve called time out immediately after he made the shot. He waited too long to call it the rule a coach can call a timeout only when the ball is dead or when their team has clear possession of the ball during live play. Coaches cannot call timeouts when the opposing team has control or in live-ball situations where the team does not have definite possession 🫠🤷‍♀️ #marchmadness
