It wasn't the waste of time you think. JJ had me read the entire script aloud, except for the character's dialogue. I actually did more work for Abrams on that one day than in Episodes 7 & 9 combined.

And this tale of redemption she wove? Did she still somehow know who I was? Even though I'm cut off from the Force? What the hell is redemption anyways? Through who's eyes? Through Rey's? My mother's? The Force itself? I wish I felt redeemed.

After speaking to the Bendu Elder, I went back to my sparse accommodations and reflected in the story she told me of her ancestors. The constant turning from the light side to the dark and back again throughout their history. Is there no avoiding this? ... and should we?

The Elder's attendants brought us some steaming hot food. Some sort of stewed meat in a spicy Meiloorun sauce, served over some wetlands seeds. It was the best meal I had since, well ... since I could remember. The First Order was not very concerned with taste.

@BenExile It’s quite likely. You should research the Outlander, as well. According to some legends, she was a Sith who rejected the Dark Side. According to all legends, he or she worked closely with both Jedi and Sith. If any definitive record remains, a relative of Darth Marr may have it.

"My name is Sutra Marr, and long ago my family settled here in search of wisdom in the Force. The Jedi and the Sith follow the Ashla and Bogan, the light and the dark, we are the ones in the middle, we are the Bendu." I had so many questions to ask, yet decided to only listen.

@CGSahawneh The genealogy is shrouded in secrecy. I'm hoping that she tells me more about her family. They seem to have paid a terrible price being pulled between the Jedi and the Sith. Perhaps she has a message that both myself and Rey can learn from?

@BenExile Marr? As in possibly a descendant of Darth Marr who was murdered by Darth Vitiate and then appeared to Master Satele Shan to help her prepare both Sith and Jedi to defeat Vitiate before he could devour the entire galaxy? Sounds promising, Ben.
