I shorted Google $GOOG today, along with a bunch of software stocks as a hedge against my long $CRWV position. I know this is very unconventional but my take is that $GOOG business models worked really well when incremental user activity came at near zero cost of compute and that is changing as it transitions to AI driven usage. The entire ad model in AI era will move from cost per click to percent share of revenue from sales/leads generated which in my opinion will be led by OpenAI. Will see how it plays out. For now, it is just a hedge against too much exposure to Beta especially when we had such a great run over the last 16 days.

$TSLA .... Tesla continues to lose its charge as plunge in oil prices further pressures sentiment (346.08 -0.58)
Tesla (TSLA) is showing notable weakness today, extending its soft performance in 2026 with shares down roughly 23% year-to-date, as investors grapple with ongoing demand concerns and mixed operational data.
The dive in oil prices isn't helping sentiment today, as lower fuel costs reduce the urgency for consumers to switch to EVs.
Despite this share price pressure, the company has reported strong registrations and sales in several key international markets, with significant growth in countries like Germany, South Korea, and others -- partly driven by aggressive pricing strategies and expanded market penetration, especially after recent price cuts that boosted competitiveness against legacy brands.
However, TSLA's Q1 deliveries of about 358,000 vehicles (reported on April 2) fell short of expectations of roughly 365,000 and highlighted a widening gap between production and deliveries, underscoring persistent challenges in converting manufacturing output into sales.
This mix of underwhelming delivery performance and rising inventory points to headwinds such as softening consumer demand post-EV tax credit expiry, intensifying competition, particularly from Chinese EV makers, and an aging model lineup that lacks fresh momentum.
Additionally, broader macro pressures like higher interest rates and regulatory uncertainty continue to weigh on the EV sector, further complicating TSLA's near-term growth outlook.

@alpha_pls is 4 instances, a good enough count for statistical significance?

The S&P 500 triggered a rare technical event today, gapping above both its 50D and 200D moving averages simultaneously.
This looked weird to me, so I did some digging.
Since 1950, this specific signal has occurred only four times. In every instance, the index faced significant pullbacks shortly after. The average three month drawdown following the signal is -9.51%, with the worst three month drawdown reaching -12.92% during 2018.
Historically this has always been an exhaustion gap rather than a sustainable rally.
Maybe this time is different.
