@LeagueFreak In the UK where nothing happens we have a proper sports market and RL is a tiny part of it, I’m from Manchester where most people have barely heard of the sport, when I told people there was a Canadian team playing in the UK league, most people thought that was stupid and it was.

Remember when the Toronto Wolfpack were told by the RFL they'd have to come through all the lower grades and earn promotion to SL? After so much work, and millions spent, the club managed to do that. The club was kicked out of SL just weeks into its first season due to Covid.

@laurennUTD I watched a bit of both games last night and the speed of the Bayern game looked sped up compared to the Arsenal game. We’d get battered against PSG, Real or Bayern our midfield would be chasing shadows.

I don’t think either side were what you say , where were Saints “fortunate” and the bulls “unlucky” Bradford played some good rugby, are well coached & comfortably the best of the 3 promoted sides, they just couldn’t see it out but weren’t unlucky Saints are a work in progress
The Tryline 🏉@TrylineUK

Saints were fortunate tonight. Bradford were unlucky. For Saints, it's 3 wins from 4 but major room for improvement. For Bradford, there's a lot to take in defeat.

Ian Brown may've turned out a conspiracy loon but his solo singles around the turn of 2000 – namely My Star, F.E.A.R, Dolphins Were Monkeys – are some of the best alt tracks ever written, while the supposed proper 'artist' John Squire shat out utter garbage in comparison

@LeagueFreak To be honest Hull KR treated it like a trial game, smashed a weaker opponent for 30 minutes then coasted home without too much effort, despite their opponents playing chaos footy throwing it about everywhere. The Broncos looked desperate to win which is strange for a trial game.

The unpredictable nature of trial games is fun. None of the games count for anything either, so there’s no need that get invested in the results. That’s for the season proper. #RugbyLeague #NRL

@LukeODx The problem is the stadium because it has terrible connections, is too big for RL and the most important you make zero money playing there. Anywhere you could generate rev would be better. A joint stadium with Swinton for example.

@SnrHuevo @CamDonDuncan How many clubs in the league would meet that criteria? Odsal? Craven Park? the Jungle? Belle Vue? What’s Wigans deal re making money from the stadium? Do Toulouse own their own ground? If London go up where are they playing?

@CSloany81 @CamDonDuncan Simple checklist: Do you own your own ground or can you generate rev from it with modern infrastructure on and outside of game day? No? Then get out. The game simply doesn't have the money to carry passengers in what is supposed to be its premium product.

York looking more like a SL club in just one night than the likes of Cas, Huddersfield and Salford have ever done.
SéniorHuevo@SnrHuevo

So York even before playing have given #SuperLeague something Huddersfield Salford and Cas (despite getting millions of pounds) never did. A great crowd that makes the sport look fantastic in a modern stadium that can actually grow instead of take from the game.

@CSloany81 @SnrHuevo Of course they will. They have half the central funding, only had a few months notice they were in SL and have spent the last 30 years outside SL… I think York would be in a better place than some SL clubs if they’d had the same opportunities over the past 30 years.

@SnrHuevo They’ve had TENS OF MILLIONS in central funding Imagine where York would be now with that same investement?

@Wynne202 @LeagueFreak @leethebuilder I think the perception of the competitions are different it’s seen as 1 of the top 2 sports in Australia, it’s way down the list here, darts and snooker probably get better TV deals.

Super League clubs, instead of coordinating tweets to pretend they care, should maybe look to amend the RFL laws so that all players and staff wages are covered by the governing body when a team collapses… #RugbyLeague #NRL

@Wynne202 @LeagueFreak @leethebuilder That model wouldn’t work as there isn’t enough of a TV deal to go round, it’s a part time sport paying full time wages. I’ve lost a lot of interest in the game over here. As a Salford fan I can’t feign interest in a team that’s not competitive I don’t care what league they are in

@CSloany81 @LeagueFreak @leethebuilder The NRL use percentages to dictate allocations for different parts of the game , Example: the players get 28% of NRL rev for the salary cap . Clubs get 30% of the salary cap for the running of the club on top of the player salary cap .

@LeagueFreak @leethebuilder Are NRL clubs sustainable without owners? Not a dig I’m genuinely interested, even football clubs here with all the money in that sport go bust and need owners pouring billions in, in RL it’s much smaller amounts of money that cause issues but the problems are the same.

@leethebuilder The English game just isn’t built on sustainability at all. Even every single SL club, if not for owners tipping money in, they’d go bust overnight too. Theres no business plan. No asserts. No idea to build anything. It’s insane.
