Please read our @thetimes letter about what dying is typically like. It would be so easy to fear from the examples cited in the assisted dying debate that horrific death is the norm. It isn't - really. Between us we have >300 yrs of combined experience treating dying people.

This is important. There is so much confusion and fear around pain, and use of drugs such as morphine, at the end of life. We often hear “Doctors already give people drugs at the end of life with the intention of killing them” Short thread…
Sir Edward Leigh MP@EdwardLeighGB

Much of the impetus for assisted suicide comes from the fear of dying in pain. Today I presented a bill that would clarify that medical professionals are able to give the level of pain relief they believe is appropriate. youtu.be/YKNMWyZhr-k?si…

Oh this is very sad news indeed. Robert Twycross was hugely important to the development of palliative care in the UK and beyond. He was kind, thoughtful and humble. He published this paper on assisted dying earlier this year, a topic he cared deeply about bmcpalliatcare.biomedcentral.com/counter/pdf/10…

📢 We've just published our Better End of Life Report. People have told us that access to high-quality palliative and end of life care is patchy, inconsistent, and inequitable. But better care is possible. Here's 3 key things you need to know... 👇
