Please read our @thetimes letter about what dying is typically like.
It would be so easy to fear from the examples cited in the assisted dying debate that horrific death is the norm.
It isn't - really. Between us we have >300 yrs of combined experience treating dying people.

This is important. There is so much confusion and fear around pain, and use of drugs such as morphine, at the end of life.
We often hear “Doctors already give people drugs at the end of life with the intention of killing them”

Oh this is very sad news indeed. Robert Twycross was hugely important to the development of palliative care in the UK and beyond. He was kind, thoughtful and humble. 2 wks ago I was in Hull in a park w my visibly disabled child
I got called a P*** by a group of young kids &they mocked my sons disability
I focussed on keeping us safe&tried not let it ruin our trip
Of course the gut wrenching feeling stays with u, but this is normal in 🏴
