I have been there... More than once. When praying feels repetitive or robotic, it is a common struggle that I believe many faithful people face. The Bible teaches us that God wants a real relationship with us, not empty words. Jesus warned about this in Matthew 6:7, where He said, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.” God looks at the heart, not just the lips. Here are some gentle, practical steps drawn from Scripture to help your prayers feel alive again: 1. Check your heart first. Ask yourself if you are truly coming to God with humility and trust. Psalm 51:17 reminds us, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” If prayer feels dry, pause and confess any sin or distraction that might be blocking closeness with the Lord. A sincere “Lord, my heart feels far from You right now, please draw me near” can be a powerful starting point. 2. Change how you pray. Instead of repeating the same words every time, try praying through Scripture. Open your Bible and turn a verse into a personal prayer. For example, take Philippians 4:6-7 and pray, “Lord, I bring my worries to You with thanksgiving. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace.” This keeps your words fresh and rooted in God’s truth. 3. Be honest and specific. Tell God exactly how you feel, even if it is “Lord, I feel like my prayers are just going through the motions today. Help me sense Your presence.” The Psalms are full of raw honesty. David often poured out his complaints, fears, and joys to God. God can handle your true feelings. 4. Mix in different kinds of prayer. Spend time in praise and thanksgiving first (like in Psalm 100), then bring your requests, then listen in quiet. You might also pray out loud while walking, write your prayers in a journal, or pray with a friend. Variety can help wake up a tired routine. 5. Remember who you are talking to. Prayer is not a duty to check off. It is a conversation with your loving Father. Jesus taught us to call God “Our Father” (Matthew 6:9). Think of it like talking to someone you love deeply. You would not use the same exact script every time; you share what is really on your mind. 6. Be patient and persistent. Dry seasons happen, but Jesus encouraged us to keep praying and not give up (Luke 18:1). Keep showing up faithfully. Over time, as you seek Him, the Holy Spirit will help refresh your prayers. Romans 8:26 promises that “the Spirit helps us in our weakness” and even intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Most of all, do not feel condemned if prayer feels robotic right now. God knows your heart and honors your desire to seek Him. Keep coming to Him, even when it feels dry. He is faithful to meet you there and draw you closer. If you stay consistent, you will likely look back and see how He used this time to deepen your faith. May the Lord bless you with renewed joy in talking with Him.

✈️ This pilot flat-out refused to take off… even though the crew had already cleared the plane for departure. He had a bad gut feeling — oil pressure on engine #2 was trending up and the fuel system filter still needed replacing. He told the passengers straight up: “They told us the plane is good to go, but I’m not really feeling it. I’m not going to leave the ground if I’m not completely certain that we have an airworthy aircraft. So I’m refusing the aircraft. I feel a lot more comfortable making this call than flying six hours over the water and maybe having an issue.” He apologized for the delay, then had everyone deplane so maintenance could fix it properly. In a world that’s always rushing, this pilot chose safety over schedule and put every single life on that plane first ❤️ I would you rather have a pilot who listens to his gut like this than one who just sticks to the schedule no matter what... how about you?
