I just finished an offensive line manual I wish I had early in my career. Not more plays. Not more scheme. Just a simple system: – Indy – Technique – Combos – Fixes – Friday adjustments No fluff. Comment “OL” and I’ll send it.

Why Coaching Is Harder Than People Think (A Holiday Reminder)… Because coaching isn’t just about plays, drills, or game nights. It’s about people. It’s about walking into practice every day and managing emotions you didn’t create but are responsible for. Your own. Your players. Your assistants. Parents. Administrators. Fans. It’s about teaching kids who are all at different stages. Different maturity levels. Different confidence levels. Different home situations. And somehow holding them to the same standards while still meeting them where they are. It’s about decisions that look simple from the stands but feel heavy from the sideline. Who plays. When. Why. How you communicate it. And how that decision might land on a 16-year-old who ties their identity to minutes. It’s about losing sleep over kids who won’t buy in. Over conversations you need to have. Over mistakes you replay in your head long after everyone else moved on. It’s about being judged by people who see the outcome, not the process. The scoreboard, not the hours. The result, not the relationships. And yet, you show up again. You plan. You teach. You model. You care. As the season slows and the holidays arrive, this is the reminder: What you do matters. Even when it goes unseen. Even when it feels heavy. Even when it’s hard. Coaching is about influence. And influence lasts longer than any season. That’s why coaching is harder than people think. And also why it matters so much. As the year winds down, I hope you find a little rest, a little perspective, and a lot of pride in the work you’re doing. 🎄Happy Holidays, Coach.

REPS MATTER 💯 One thing I know for sure: the things you do over and over and over—you will get better at. Repetition is the oldest and most effective form of skill acquisition on the planet. It works. Every time. Here’s the caveat—reps don’t discriminate. You don’t just get better at the right things. You get better at whatever you repeat. If you rehearse poor habits, negative self-talk, excuses, or comfort… you’ll become elite at those too. Excellence isn’t an accident. It’s the result of consistent, intentional reps—done daily—on the things that move you closer to who you want to become. So choose wisely. Audit your reps. Make sure the repetitions in your life are adding value, sharpening your edge, and pushing you toward your best. Want to get better? Do the right things… over and over and over. Never Stop Getting Better.

If your team CRAMPED in Week 1, it's because they were not exposed to the game demands of their position(s). It had NOTHING to do with how many Gassers, 40s, or 110s you ran for "conditioning." Also, running ONLY 10yd FLYS does not expose them to the High Speed Acceleration demands of the game. Is Max Speed IMPORTANT? YES. If you don't specifically train it, you'll never hit it in practice or a game, and will subsequently get slower and less explosive throughout the season. However, High Speed Acceleration is just as (maybe MORE) IMPORTANT. Not only in training, but also as a part of practice. If they never get a chance to RECOVER, then there's no chance they'll hit Max Speed or High Speed Acceleration, so start there. Then program your week accordingly, to make sure your players are getting the EXPOSURES they need to be ready for game night. Don't just BLAME player nutrition and the Strength staff... #SprintBasedFootball
