Westminster spent North Sea revenues on general UK budgets — funding welfare, unemployment benefits during deindustrialisation, debt reduction, and yes, broad tax cuts (not just "for the wealthy"). Scotland received **higher per-capita public spending** than England via Barnett. Norway saved aggressively with higher taxes, state ownership, later peak production, and smaller population - there extraction costs were much lower & their oil was extracted when oil prices were high your 💩 direct comparison is dishonest. You now opposes new North Sea oil/gas — so independence would mean **zero** new oil wealth to "save" anyway. - If Scotland had been independent in the 1970s–80s, volatile prices + no UK-wide cushion = likely worse mismanagement, not instant Norway. To be precise: Westminster didn't 'squander' Scotland's oil — it spent it on the UK including Scotland (higher benefits, services). Norway saved because it owned fields, taxed harder, peaked later. SNP wants independence to 'save' oil revenues... while banning new oil. Hypocrisy much?
