Here’s a glance back to the first VEL meeting of the semester, where our team of PhD candidates, graduate researchers, and undergrad RAs came together over pizza to bond and discuss goals for the semester. PhD candidate Miki Matsumoru also demonstrated her VR project "MazeWorld."

Meet Jiahao Liu, a Mechanical Engineering PhD student working on our VELs Diver-Agent Team. He researches human-computer and human-robot interactions using VR and XR, and through a scuba diving simulator, he is exploring how VR can ease collaboration between humans and UAVs.

Welcome Miki Matsumuro, our new postdoctoral associate! She has a Ph.D. in Information Science from Nagoya University in Japan. Her interests are in understanding and simulating the human cognitive process in interacting with the environment (UI, human, AI-agent).

Welcome Ph.D. student, Julia Sebastien, to the lab! Julia's interests combine social psychology communication, perception and cognition, Human-Computer Interaction, education, prosocial behavior, and mental health.

We're excited to introduce our new Ph.D. student, Kevin Martinez, to the lab! Kevin received a B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley. He's interested in pedagogical applications of XR and how social networks and interactions on XR platforms influence culture and identity.
