For a second there. Not gonna lie, when Randy said “you’re forgetting about something Cody” I thought the camera was gonna show Brandi on the floor. Ospreay is going to drag NJPW and AEW into having a hypercompetitive Forbidden Door this year with his bare hands.
United Empire made a GREAT first impression to start Dynamite. These next few months will be pivotal for ensuring the long term viability of the Forbidden Door concept. AEW is going to have to devote some real estate on their show to getting their partner over to the AEW TV audience. NJPW is having a great year but it’s with a retooled, younger cast of talents that aren’t as known to American fans as the previous crew of guys. It’s a tough needle to thread to do this while also focusing on your product and stories but it’s something worth prioritizing because if it works out, AEW vs NJPW will have legs for years since NJPW’s core guys are YOUNG. And lemme tell ya, the UE guys made Tony’s job easy because they all had very distinct, defining traits that were immediately communicated to the crowd. HENARE is animalistic and tough, Akira is fast, Newman is an all rounder stud.
