@ArchAdvicer @vangeestguy It's pretty simple... long term with ups and downs and inflation and your massive fees, if 4% safe withdrawal rate is how you don't run it, basic reason tells you that that must be near the long term average after inflation increases are accounted for... trinity study explains

@CurtisNRay @vangeestguy You routinely illustrate “ROTH IRA returns” in retirement @ 4% while referring to the same 4% return as the income produced by the “ROTH IRA”. What else should we assume is at play here? Can you provide some examples of “every major reputable” company illustrating 4x4?

@CurtisNRay is there a reason, on your Lives, that you frequently conflate investment returns with withdrawal rates? You reference 10% compounding returns during accumulation AND THEN reference a 4% (inflation adjusted) return that correlates with a 4% withdrawal.

@ArchAdvicer @vangeestguy It's unfortunate for your clients that you aren't focused on retirement distributions... distract them with secondary functions because the primary function of income is not your strong point. So sad and even worse what happens if you suggest more than 4% and they run out early😭

@CurtisNRay @vangeestguy Thankfully, I understand the difference btwn a safe withdrawal rate & a return rate -and take great efforts to ensure the difference is clear to the public- so my clients generally only fear waking up in a world where their professional refuses to illustrate this difference.

@ArchAdvicer @vangeestguy You obviously are just looking to argue because that's not what I teach. I teach safe withdrawal rates & why they exist & the risks involved taking out too much. Every single retirement income calculator I've ever seen projects 4% inflation adj. That's what clients need to know.

@ArchAdvicer @vangeestguy I rarely even reference the 4% Rule. I show every major reputable retirement planning company in the world have calculators that show 4% as the authority... But yes... you know better and should be trusted using the same system as them. Scary for your clients.

@vangeestguy Target Date Theory bro, go read up. I think it's just easier for him. He can reference the 4% rule for authority, avoid technical debates with viewers, it's not far from what DIY folks often do on average, & it makes MPI look especially good.

@ArchAdvicer @warrior_prof @vangeestguy I show Vanguards calculator and suggested income. It's not my calculator. Strange you all attack my examples using every single retirement income calculator from every major retirement player in the country. But you... some Random FA... can use stocks for more secure income 🤔

Net of inflation & fees for a moderate equity investor post-glide path reversal in retirement with $100-150K gross income? 6-7%. 2-3% inflation; ~1% total fees or less. After tax? Take another 25% off (20% effective federal rate + max 5% AL state tax). Just a best guess at a generic in-state profile.

@Murph_Cap @eric_a_bruns According to Vanguards retirement calculator, Roth using Index funds are pretty terrible. You guys are all the classic example of Isolated Demand For Rigor. Very lazy. Not worth time arguing with people who treat everything with the lense of Isolated Demand For Rigor... 🤷‍♂️

@eric_a_bruns Is THIS post and thread of comments perhaps the reason @CurtisNRay and others have migrated away from X? 🤷‍♂️ I recall and intense but short-lived battle on here last fall. 🍿 Good times.

@AdvisorAndres I think you meant to say "in retirement our stock based plans produce such low income we should be in the 10-12% tax bracket. If you don't spend a lot, you don't get taxed much..." 🤷‍♂️. Roth 401k are only on your contributions coming from the guy who claims "misleading" on all 😉

@ArchAdvicer @tommymodec Lol. Once I get access to the "Monte Carlo" report so I can read it and explain it to you guys in basic terms, I'm willing to go. How can I can live to discuss something I haven't read yet? You guys make conclusions on snap shots and emotion, I actually learn and study before🤓😉

@ArchAdvicer How do you replicate the tax free general fund? Insurance general fund uses a lot of Bonds and takes the interest to purchase the Call Option. They can realize the interest tax free as a perk of insurance. How does the average investor or even traditional money manager?

@colinoverweg @SecretCFP @ramit @mutualofomaha Insurance loan rates aren't tied to the Fed and what they do... Insurance is pretty isolated from the chaos we are seeing right now making is much more predictable than many understand. That's why they can guarantee it will never exceed 6%, because they live I'm their own world.

@Luke_Swanson_ @AdvisorAndres In 9 years you are still the only person to say that name... send me his article or book or whatever and I'll read it. Still not sure after 9 years no client, advisor, CFP or anyone has ever used that term before. Random! Lol

@CurtisNRay @AdvisorAndres I read your “Everyone Ends Up Poor” book or whatever it’s called. You told me in the past that you read Forbes and Yahoo Finance, and you called Kitces a “random” when I recommended his articles. I have zero faith in whatever conclusions you came to in the other book.
