One critique of this platform that uses bacterial enzymes is that host immune responses will reject it. In my thesis work, I adapt this project in fully immunocompetent mouse models. We've had very promising efficacy results so far!

In our @DASLab_MSKCC paper we demonstrate that T cells can be engineered to release small molecule chemotherapies at the tumor site. We do this using bacterial enzymes. In the current paper, we use immunodeficient mouse models as a human proof of concept.

Congratulations @TJJardinero and our collaborators in the Tan lab for this awesome work! We show how adoptive T cell therapies like CAR T cells can be used to deliver small-molecule drugs to tumors. This is the first manuscript of many to come on this project.
