What's strange is that I'm just used to doing things, and not getting acknowledged, unless one of my tools breaks something. Getting recognition for my work, and opportunities to expand on it is something I'm just not used to.

This past week was very stressful, but I was able to take on some crazy tasks and get them done. On Friday, I found out that I've been chosen to help design & build tools to help automate things. I've already been building scripts to help when current automation fails.

@DoomsdayGoth WFH jobs are starting to become more difficult to find, but they are still out there. They existed before the WFH boom, and they'll continue to exist. Keep looking.

What job boards are yall using to find WFH jobs?

Just realized that I've been working like I do for 20 years at this point. I used to work my hours, then leave my job and go hang out with my friends. In Dec '04, I was fired, lost my car, and lost my apartment Never want to go through that again, so now I work my ass off.

After doing it for over a year and completely turning the entire program around, I'm training my replacement and stepping down from my team leader role. It's limiting my career growth at my employer.

I cannot stress how important home learning can be, including just skill maintenance. I swear I've forgotten more about networking than I could have been learning in this last year after taking a less technical (smart hands) job. Keep those home labs going!

My unobtainable dream is to visit Japan once before I die. Thankfully, my wife has agreed to take some of my ashes with her there if I don't make it.

I make no effort to hide how bored I am at work. It's a lower level position than I've held previously and my tasks involve things I stopped doing almost a decade ago because I was bored. I still manage to outwork people and solve challenges people making 4x what I do give up on
