My biggest concerns about the proposed National Security and Central Intelligence Act is that, this law gives the government strong power to control information, monitor citizens, and define threats without strong checks to protect ordinary people. You should be very concerned too! I wish to warmly congratulate the All People’s Congress Party (APC), our National Executive, the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC), and all the Party Executives at the District, Constituency and Ward levels for the generally successful conduct of the recent lower-level Ward elections across the country. These elections represent an important step in strengthening our internal democratic processes and renewing grassroots participation within our great party. I commend the many APCians who participated peacefully and demonstrated commitment to the values and future of the APC Party. I also acknowledge that, as with any large democratic exercise, there were isolated skirmishes and disturbances in a few locations. While regrettable, these incidents should not overshadow the broader progress made. I trust and expect that the National Executive and the IEMC will take swift, transparent, and decisive action to address all petitions and grievances, and to ensure that any necessary re-run elections are conducted speedily and without undue delay, in line with party rules and fairness. The credibility of our internal processes is essential, not only for party unity, but for the confidence of our members and supporters nationwide, and internationally. On behalf of the Unifier Movement, I continue to admonish all APCians to remain calm, united, and focused on the bigger picture. Our strength lies in our unity, our discipline, and our shared commitment to the future of Sierra Leone. The task before us is clear. The APC Party must present a united front, reconnect with the people, and position itself to win the next national elections and offer Sierra Leone credible leadership, economic relief, and renewed hope. Together, through unity of purpose and respect for internal democracy, we can guarantee victory for the APC and a better future for our country. Aluta Continua. I have taken note, with deep concern, of the arrest and continued detention of Zainab Sheriff, a Sierra Leonean citizen and political activist. In a constitutional democracy, the protection of due process, freedom of expression, and reasonable access to bail are not privileges granted by the state; they are rights guaranteed by law. When any citizen, especially a political activist, is detained under circumstances that are not promptly and transparently explained, it raises legitimate public concern and weakens confidence in our justice system. Let me be clear: the rule of law must be respected by all. At the same time, the rule of law must be applied fairly, impartially, and without political colour. Law enforcement should never be perceived as a tool to intimidate, silence, or discourage dissenting voices. A democracy grows stronger when it tolerates criticism and manages disagreement through dialogue and lawful process—not fear. I therefore call on the relevant authorities to ensure that Zainab Sheriff is accorded her full constitutional rights, including timely access to legal counsel, clarity on any charges, and consideration of bail in line with established legal standards. Transparency at this moment is essential to restoring public trust and easing rising political tensions. As a nation, we must guard against a pattern where arrests and detentions of activists or opposition voices become normalized. Such practices shrink civic space, deepen polarization, and distract us from the urgent task of addressing the real challenges facing our people: economic hardship, unemployment, and the need for national reconciliation. I urge restraint, professionalism, and respect for due process from all state institutions. This is not a time for escalation, but for calm reflection and adherence to the principles that bind us together as a nation. I remain committed to peace, dialogue, and constitutional order. Sierra Leone’s future depends on our collective ability to protect rights, uphold justice, and choose unity over division. #apc #SierraLeone #SaloneX #dunifier #richardkonteh #SaloneTwitter @diaspora_apc @We_yoneNp #sierraloaded #salonekongosa #born2blog #scotlandheritage #sierraleoneheritage @TruthmediaSL @thomasd05987132 #EuropeanUnion @USEmbFreetown @UKinSierraLeone @SLAJ_Salone @SierraLeoneUN @EUinSierraLeone @_AfricanUnion @ecowas_cedeao #DemocracyUnderSiege #democracydiesindarkness

A Call to Reflection and Gratitude: Dr. Richard Konteh’s Message on Ramadan, Lent, and Armed Forces Day As we enter the sacred seasons of Ramadan for our Muslim community and Lent for our Christian community, I extend my heartfelt prayers, goodwill, and solidarity to all Sierra Leoneans. These holy periods call us to reflection, restraint, compassion, and renewal. They invite us to look inward, to examine our conduct as individuals and as a nation, and to recommit ourselves to values that strengthen our shared humanity—justice, humility, forgiveness, and service to others. At a time when our country is navigating complex political, economic, and social challenges, these seasons remind us that peace and progress begin with conscience. They teach us that power must be exercised with restraint, leadership with responsibility, and authority with fairness. As I have stated before, this is not a moment for intimidation or escalation, but for institution-building, dialogue, and national unity. Ramadan and Lent reinforce that truth. They call us away from division and toward understanding; away from fear and toward faith; away from excess and toward empathy for those who struggle daily to survive. In a constitutional democracy, justice must be impartial, institutions must be fair, and the dignity of every citizen must be protected. These principles are not only political ideals—they are moral imperatives deeply rooted in both Islam and Christianity. I therefore encourage all Sierra Leoneans, leaders and citizens alike, to use this sacred season to pray for our nation, to speak with kindness, to act with integrity, and to place the common good above personal or partisan interest. May this season soften our hearts, calm tensions, restore trust, and renew our collective commitment to justice, peace, and national unity. I pray that the Almighty God grants strength to those who are fasting, comfort to those who suffer, wisdom to those who lead, and hope to every Sierra Leonean. Ramadan Mubarak. Blessed Lenten Season. May God bless Sierra Leone. Let me also use this solemn occasion to extend our best wishes and thanksgiving to our gallant men and women of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces as we celebrate Armed Forces Day with you. Your sacrifices for and dedication to defending the sovereignty of our motherland and the supremacy of our national constitution have been remarkable. We pray for God’s divine blessings and prosperity to be showered on you. May God continue to bless our beloved Sierra Leone. As this remarkable year comes to an end, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. 2025 has been a year of movement, courage, resilience, and renewed hope, all because of you. Every step we took, every message we shared, every community we visited, every challenge we confronted—we did it together, as people who believe that Sierra Leone deserves better and will be better. This year, I travelled across our beautiful country—Freetown, Falaba, Bombali, Bo, Bonthe, Kambia, Karene, Koindugu, Kenema, Kono, Kailahun, Port Loko, Pujehun, Tonkolili, Moyamba, Waterloo, and many villages in between—listening to students, market women, bike riders, teachers, farmers, and traditional leaders. Your stories strengthened my commitment to unity, justice, and a future where every Sierra Leonean has a fair chance. From national TV platforms like SLBC, AYV, Liberty TV, to the Focus Salone Show on Amaze TV, We Yard, and community stations across the country, I shared one consistent message: Sierra Leone must turn away from division and walk toward peace, fairness, and prosperity. I stood firmly against intimidation, bad governance, electoral injustice, and the rising toxicity in our politics—because silence helps no one. To my APC comrades—thank you. You welcomed me into your hearts, homes, wards, chapters, constituencies, and communities. Together, we pushed for unity, discipline, internal democracy, and a renewed focus on the values that built our great party. We reminded ourselves that the APC must be strong, not for its own sake, but for Sierra Leone. The Unifier Movement grew stronger in the USA, UK, Europe, Canada, and across Africa. Your belief in a united Sierra Leone continues to inspire me every single day. As we step into 2026, let us move with confidence and conviction. Our mission is clear: Unite our party, Restore hope to our people, Strengthen democracy, Build a peaceful, prosperous Sierra Leone. I am grateful for every handshake, every message, every prayer, every sacrifice, and every encouragement you have given throughout this year. To each of you, I say from the depth of my heart: Thank you! I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! The leadership of the Unifier Movement is deeply troubled by the sad news of the passing of the All People's Congress (APC) Bo District Chairman, Mr. Amidu Keita. Chairman Keita was a determined and committed party stalwart with a prepared mindset to see that the APC regains power in 2028. He was on record calling on comrades to choose a leader with a proven track record to lead the APC to victory in 2028. Keita was fearless when it came to executing party functions. He was such a steadfast and committed grassroot politician that the party lost at this crucial moment. May his soul rest in perfect peace! DR. RICHARD KONTEH CONDEMNS THE DANGEROUS COMMENT DAVID SENGH MADE REGARDING PRESIDENT BIO CLINGING TO POWER UNTIL 2039 I have taken note, with deep concern, of the widely circulated video in which David Sengeh has boldly stated that President Julius Maada Bio and the SLPP will remain in government until 2039. This statement is reckless, unconstitutional, and deeply offensive to the democratic conscience of the people of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is a constitutional republic governed by the supremacy of the Constitution, not by the wish or confidence of any individual, political party, or public official. The Constitution is unequivocal: the presidency is limited to two terms. President Julius Maada Bio is currently serving his second and final term, and no individual or party has the moral or legal authority to pre-determine governance beyond that mandate. Let me remind you of Chapter V, Section 46(1) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which unequivocally states that: ”No person shall hold office as President for more than two terms of five years each, whether or not the terms are consecutive.” This clause is the clear constitutional foundation for presidential term limits in Sierra Leone and directly contradicts any suggestion of governance beyond the second term. To publicly imply continuity of power beyond constitutional limits is: * A direct assault on the rule of law * A disrespect to the sovereignty of the people * A dangerous normalization of authoritarian thinking * And a grave threat to democratic stability Democracy thrives on uncertainty in outcomes, competition of ideas, and the people’s unfettered right to choose their leaders through free and fair elections. Any rhetoric that suggests permanent political dominance undermines these sacred principles and erodes public confidence in our democratic institutions. This statement is even more troubling because it comes from a senior government official who ought to be a custodian of constitutional order, not a promoter of political entitlement. Public officers must exercise restraint, responsibility, and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution—not to party supremacy. History across Africa and beyond has shown us that eras of prolonged or engineered political dominance often end in instability, economic decline, institutional collapse, and human suffering. Sierra Leone must not be led down that path again. I therefore: 1. Unequivocally reject any suggestion of unconstitutional continuity of power. 2. Call on David Sengeh to immediately clarify or retract this statement in the interest of national peace and democratic integrity. 3. Urge the SLPP leadership and the Government of Sierra Leone to publicly distance themselves from this reckless statement, and reaffirm their commitment to term limits, constitutionalism, and peaceful democratic transitions. 4. Call on civil society, religious leaders, the media, and the international community to remain vigilant in defence of Sierra Leone’s hard-won democracy. Sierra Leone does not belong to any political party. It belongs to its people. Power is not inherited, predicted, or permanently owned, it is entrusted by the electorate for a limited time and under strict constitutional boundaries. The APC party, and everyone committed to upholding the principles of democracy, will continue to stand firmly for: * The supremacy of the Constitution * The sanctity of the ballot * And the inalienable right of Sierra Leoneans to choose and change their leaders freely Democracy in Sierra Leone must never again be reduced to political prophecy or party entitlement. #sierraleone #apc #SierraLeone #SaloneX #dunifier #richardkonteh #SaloneTwitter @diaspora_apc @We_yoneNp #sierraloaded #salonekongosa #born2blog #scotlandheritage #sierraleoneheritage #sierraleoneheritage @TruthmediaSL @USEmbFreetown @UKinSierraLeone @SLAJ_Salone @UNFPASierraleon @SierraLeoneUN @EUinSierraLeone @_AfricanUnion @ecowas_cedeao @thomasd05987132

DR. RICHARD KONTEH CONDEMNS THE UNJUST PPRC FINE AGAINST THE APC PARTY I have noted with deep concern the press release issued by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) on 17th November 2025, announcing a fine of One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Leones (NLe 120,000) against our Party (APC) over alleged contraventions during a civic engagement in Falaba. I categorically reject this fine as unfair, politically motivated, and inconsistent with the PPRC’s mandate to regulate political conduct with impartiality and integrity. For far too long, the PPRC has maintained troubling silence in the face of numerous threats, inflammatory statements, and acts of intimidation directed at the APC Party and its supporters by individuals within the ruling SLPP. These incidents have gone uninvestigated, unaddressed, and unpunished, creating a dangerous perception that the PPRC is being used selectively as a tool to suppress and weaken the opposition. It is therefore difficult not to view this sudden fine as part of a broader intimidation tactic, designed to restrict the APC’s legitimate political engagement, silence its representatives, and undermine the democratic process ahead of future elections. Political regulation must be fair, consistent, and even-handed. The PPRC cannot choose to penalize opposition voices while turning a blind eye to blatant violations committed by supporters of the ruling party. Such double standards erode public trust, escalate political tensions, and threaten the stability of our democratic institutions. The APC will not be cowed into silence. We remain firmly committed to lawful, constructive political engagement and to defending the rights of all Sierra Leoneans to participate freely in democratic processes without fear of harassment or discrimination. In light of this concerning pattern of selective enforcement and political intimidation, we call upon: ECOWAS @ecowas_cedeao The African Union (AU) @_AfricanUnion The Mano River Union @union_mano The United Nations Office in Sierra Leone @UNSierraLeone The European Union (EU) @EUinSierraLeone The United States Embassy @USEmbFreetown, and The UK High Commission @UKinSierraLeone to closely monitor the actions of the PPRC and the conduct of political actors in Sierra Leone. Our democracy requires independent institutions, not instruments of political control. We therefore urge the international community to proactively ensure that Sierra Leone’s political environment remains fair, transparent, and conducive to peaceful participation by all parties. We also call on the PPRC to uphold its constitutional duty with neutrality, professionalism, and accountability. Sierra Leone deserves regulators who strengthen democracy, not ones who amplify political divisions. The APC remains committed to peace, progress, and democratic values. We will continue to advocate for a political landscape where every Sierra Leonean, regardless of party affiliation, can speak freely and participate fully without intimidation. #sierraleone #apc #SierraLeone #SaloneX #dunifier #richardkonteh #SaloneTwitter @diaspora_apc @We_yoneNp #sierraloaded #salonekongosa #born2blog #scotlandheritage #sierraleoneheritage

Dr. Richard Konteh Condemns All Forms of Hate Speech and Calls for Unity I am deeply concerned about an audio message circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms that promotes hate and division against our Mende brothers and sisters. We equally condemn ALL OTHER HATE SPEECHES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE AGAINST OTHER TRIBES. Such rhetoric is wrong, dangerous, and has no place in our society. As Sierra Leoneans, we are one people bound by shared history, values, and destiny. Our strength lies in our unity, not in the lines others try to draw between us. Hate speech and tribal divisions only serve to weaken the progress we have made as a nation and threaten the peace we all cherish. I therefore call on every citizen to reject messages of hate and intolerance in all forms. Let us use our voices, our platforms, and our influence to promote respect, understanding, and national cohesion. The Unifier Movement stands firm in the belief that Sierra Leone’s greatness will be achieved not through division, but through unity, love, and mutual respect among all tribes and regions. Let us rise above this petty hate and walk together as brothers and sisters, for in unity, there is peace, and in peace, there is progress. It is with profound sadness that I, Dr. Richard Konteh, together with my family and The Unifier Movement, extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Ghana, and especially to the family of the late Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. Madam Rawlings was a remarkable woman—a visionary leader, an advocate for women’s empowerment, and a steadfast voice for justice and progress in Ghana and across Africa. Her life of service and her unwavering commitment to social development and national transformation will continue to inspire generations. To His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the people of Ghana, and the Rawlings family, we share in your grief and pray that Almighty God grants you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Africa has lost a daughter of grace, courage, and conviction. May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her legacy continue to shine as a beacon of hope for women and leaders everywhere.
