I find it unacceptable that some companies and suppliers have already increased rates or added a fuel surcharge when the fuel price has not increased yet… are you trying to profit from existing fuel stock? #fuelprice please RT

@Leon_Schreib Minister, we would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and your team to present a biometric-enabled home delivery solution for passports. This could improve citizen access while creating technology-enabled jobs in townships. Would welcome a discussion. 🇿🇦

@NadiaFerreira85 This is completely unacceptable and unaffordable for small businesses….
English

@Leon_Schreib @helenzille Minister, we would like to present a biometric passport home-delivery solution that can improve service delivery and create jobs in townships through a technology-enabled logistics model. May we request a meeting with you and your team?

While our aim was to have 17 bank branches live this week, #TeamHomeAffairs over-performed by 100% with 34 branches now live across all nine provinces. In just 3 days, we’ve expanded the footprint for Smart ID services by 10%. Much more to come! 🇿🇦

Hi Premier @Lesufi. Since you're communicating with the media on this platform, any comment on Gauteng Province's many empty buildings costing the taxpayers millions? #CarteBlanche @wicks_jeff
Carte Blanche@carteblanchetv
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi's offices cost taxpayers roughly R48 million per year in leases. Meanwhile, a building bought by the Province - and intended for the Premier's office - stands empty. #CarteBlanche @clairemawisa

The beginning of the end for Home Affairs queues is here, as we roll out our new digital partnership to 100s of bank branches across the country. No appointments, no paperwork, no delays - just 5-10 minutes to apply! 🇿🇦

@StephenGrootes Please can you find out how much fuel reserves we have left? With 70% of our fuel demand now being imported, what is the risk of us running out of fuel and how many days of fuel do we have in reserve?
English

@landbourainier @MagdelSteyn Unacceptable, this means the small tax break we received in the budget speech is gone…

🚨South Africans, wake up, we're getting absolutely hammered by medical aids that charge sky-high premiums but leave us hanging when we actually need help ‼️
In 2026, most major schemes are hiking contributions way above inflation (which is hovering around 3-4%), while benefits get squeezed, co-payments explode and exclusions keep growing.
The harsh truth? Medical aids DON'T cover ALL procedures, far from it. Even "comprehensive" plans have strict exclusions for things like cosmetic surgery (unless medically necessary), experimental or unproven treatments, infertility treatments, certain alternative therapies, refractive eye surgery, non-PMB chronic conditions beyond limits, obesity-related procedures, and more.
Many everyday or elective procedures fall through the cracks, leaving you with massive bills or forcing you to skip care.
Let's call out the big names (with their 2026 hikes):
Discovery Health – The giant with over 50% market share. Average increase around 7.2% (effective April 2026). Even their top plans like Classic Comprehensive (starting from R9 000+ pm) demand gap cover because specialists charge 200-500% above scheme rates. Exclusions hit hard on non-essential stuff and sub-limits apply to scans, oncology beyond basics or specialist procedures, you pay a fortune monthly, then still face crippling shortfalls.
Momentum – Leading the pack with a whopping 9.9% average hike – one of the highest. Their plans promise a lot, but exclusions for cosmetic procedures, obesity treatments, and non-PMB items mean sub-limits on chronic meds, day-to-day benefits, and hospital shortfalls leave you paying thousands out-of-pocket for "covered" treatments.
Fedhealth – Not far behind at 9.6% average increase. Even their "affordable" options like flexiFED see hikes that add hundreds per month, with limited networks, benefit caps, and exclusions for non-recognised therapies or experimental stuff that don't stretch far enough for serious illnesses.
Bonitas – Around 8.8% increase. Plans like BonComprehensive hit R12 500+ pm for families, yet co-payments, exclusions for non-PMB procedures, and restrictions on elective surgeries or alternative treatments leave people shocked by bills after hospital stays or specialist visits.
Bestmed – "Only" 6.8%, but still well above inflation. Members on mid-tier plans report shrinking day-to-day savings, endless battles over claims and exclusions for things like cosmetic or unproven procedures, basic hospital stuff can still lead to huge shortfalls.
We're talking R5 000–R10 000+ per month for decent family cover, only to dread the next doctor's visit because the scheme "covers" it, up to a point (or not at all for many procedures). Specialists charging triple or quadruple the rate, sub-limits on chemo or rehab, waiting periods, endless pre-authorisations and flat-out exclusions, it's a rigged game!
This isn't sustainable.
The system's broken: premiums rocket while real coverage shrinks and so many procedures are simply not covered, forcing more of us into debt or skipping care altogether. Time for real reform, better regulation, transparent pricing and actual value for our money ‼️
