The worst council in the CRD: After almost an hour of debate and multiple votes on whether council should override the staff recommendation to reject an application to install a large digital sign on the CHEK building, TWO DIFFERENT COUNCILLORS realize they should have recused themselves from speaking or voting on the issue -- but didn't realize it until then? The entire meeting grinds to a halt. Councillors Susan Kim and Krista Loughton gather their things and leave the room, after which the mayor tells what remains of council that it will be required to re-do all the votes that Councillors Kim and Loughton had participated in earlier in the meeting... #yyj

Ok, Canadian policy makers, what do we do if an oil shock wipes out about 20% of global supply on an ongoing basis? We are in the top 10 oil consuming nations on earth, but we also produce far more than we use. We've got about five million barrels per day that we pull out of the ground. We only consume about half that much. The problem: we don't have the pipeline infrastructure to connect our main production in Alberta to our main population centres in Ontario and Quebec without relying on the United States market (which is about to have a very difficult time). How do we build the infrastructure to get the hydrocarbon molecules from Point A to Point B as fast as possible? Winter is eight months away. #cdnpoli

@Adam_Stirling Most of what we hear are power run ups after maintenance. Once at full after burn they have to hold a certain lbs fuel/min rating and other checks.

(Note: The growlers are the ones that cause the mysterious low rumble heard in Victoria for years when they throttle-up to takeoff from their base on one of the islands east of Victoria. They're even louder close up. #yyj)

Can't possibly overstate my dissatisfaction with the @goodyear Duratrac RTs I had on my truck. Sure, they do provide good traction but I had one front tire separate at the treads on Christmas Eve and blow out, then today the OTHER front tire did exactly the same thing. Can't even warranty the damn things because I'm not the one who bought them. Previous owner installed them before trading in. So now I get to discard my two rear tires at approximately 65-70% life remaining because frankly I don't trust them, and spend the not-insignificant amount of money required to buy 4 new 35" tires. What a huge slap in the face to have two defective tires that can't even be warrantied — right during Christmas time. 0/10 would not recommend them to anyone. Spend your money on a different tire. Fuck Duratracs.
