MTA Chair Janno Lieber in the agency’s sunset park testing facility this AM announcing an RFP for its largest order of new subway cars ever. The 2,300 new cars will replace most of the A Division trains — the numbered lines.



Big news: @MTA & @GovKathyHochul today announced RFP from rail car manufacturers for the largest subway car contract in history. It would replace up to 2,390 cars on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 trains. (That's more cars than the Chicago & Massachusetts Transit Authorities combined.)

Infill may trend this direction over the next 20 years as self driving cars take over. No valuable real estate on parking, you send your car to go park somewhere ugly and out of sight or use cheap robot taxis.





I’ve lost count of how many meetings I’ve taken in the last year where a med student told me they had to cancel their plans to practice in a rural area due to the Trump Administration capping loans, cutting GRAD PLUS, and/or weakening PSLF.

Council members should of course want buses to be fast and to save riders lots of time but, at the end of the day, the mayor controls the streets, not the people captive to the loudest cranks on the community board
