Victory for the City of Joburg! In the urgent case brought before the court by the Marble Towers owners, the court has decisively ruled that: 1. The structures erected at Marble Towers are unlawful due to the absence of approved building plans submitted to the City. 2. The applicant failed to demonstrate urgency or establish a legal basis for an interim interdict. 3. The court affirmed that the City has the right to enforce compliance with building regulations and fire safety laws. 4. Nevertheless, the court clarified that the City cannot demolish structures without adhering to the proper legal procedures under the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act. 5. A structural order was issued, granting the applicant time to regularise the structures, submit compliant plans, address fire safety issues, and secure the site. 6. The applicant is to pay the City’s legal costs. Following the judgment delivered by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg concerning unlawful and non-compliant structures at Marble Towers in the Johannesburg CBD, the City will outline the judgment’s implications, forthcoming legal and regulatory processes and reaffirm its commitment to compliance with building, public safety, and fire safety standards. #JoburgUpdates #JoburgBylaws ^GZ

@JHBWater Try "DRY". As in no water in our taps as once again you fail to provide service. No water in Parkwood since 17:00 yesterday. Logged by numerous residents, nothing done. This gushing pipe had carried on through the night.

@JHBWater no water in Lower Parkwood. Water supply went off at 17:30 shortly after pipe replacement contractors left for the day. Torquay, Chester, Flint, Cardigan, Swansea all dry. Logged under JWAPP-4011223. Pretty sure the contractors hit or closed something they shouldn't.
