@TheEXECUTlONER_ Leaving this much room is more of an escape maneuver if you ever need it. It gives you enough room to go around the car in front in order to escape a dangerous situation. Whenever possible always travel in the outside lanes. The center lane is a death trap.

This instructor says that when you come to a stop, if you can’t see the tires of the car in front of you then you are too close. Many said they do not leave that much space because it is an invitation for others to cut in front of you. I’m always worried that someone is going to hit me from behind and push me into the car in front of me. (It’s happened before) Many said they can’t even see the headlights when cars are behind them, that they are up way too close. Do you leave this much space between you and the car in front of you when you are at a stop ? Do you think tailgating is a huge problem?

@Rods_of_God If you’re a pilot, you should know better. You have to know the difference. When you see two planes flying at similar altitudes, one has actual contrails that dissipates, the other has trails that not only don’t dissolve, they actually spread out into a massive cloud and fall.
