Randomly got annoyed at the whole "humans weren't ever actually meant to be Forerunners" it was a total retcon. From "You are Forerunner" to humans being the only ones who can use the technology because its biocoded for Forerunner. The fact humans are called Reclaimers, how can you reclaim something you never owned, you'd just be a claimer. It'd be like saying European settlers reclaimed America, they never had it in the first place. From the concept art for Halo 2 with the human Forerunner skeleton, the cancelled Halo mmo concept art showing Forerunners as humans. The book where the prophet says he can't bring himself to call humans Forerunners, Truth calling the forerunners your forefathers who left you behind. Gravemind calling itself a monument to YOUR sins and talking about visiting the sins of the father upon their children, on and on. It was super face punchingly obvious they were always intended to be human.

It was never going to get there. Too much setup, too much disconnect from the real world, too bulky, and it never got cheap enough on the high-end. It’s an awkward middle ground. We’ll see it in the future like we now see the professional workstations of the 90s.
