The HAF and HAF Plus programmes are relied upon throughout the school holiday periods each year by so many families, and losing such a programme would make a huge impact to their lives. Many organisations, have worked hard to support these families over the Christmas period (1/3)

Northumbria University has been praised by young people and local councils for its work to successfully provide a Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Plus programme for almost 100 North East teenagers during the school summer holidays. Read more: orlo.uk/8rUo9

As such, our policy and practice recommendations include increased HAF funding to support HAF clubs that lack material resources, national training in nutritional education, and evidence-informed guidance and practice @educationgovuk

We conducted a national survey of HAF clubs in England and found huge variety in the type and amount (hours) of nutritional education that is delivered, with some clubs not delivering any nutritional education at all - often related to available assets and resources (2/3)
