@EuroFrontier @Gimblin the problem is then, if say the Americans nuke Europe the French and British nuke the us in a counter value strike MAD remains. conventionally the us has great capability but not infinite especially under peace time posture which it is, it can not bring all of it to bear.

Europe is currently able to blame Russia and America as the scapegoat for all the problems of the human condition (scarcity, tragedy, competition, masculine desire for dominance and expansion). If America withdraws, Europe will be forced to realize they also internally compete.

Most Europeans have no idea how absolutely furious with Europe America is. This is not just another disagreement. Betrayal is not something you just let slide. And the mouthy responses from Europeans are pouring gas on that fire. They have misjudged the situation gravely & it will have grave consequences for Europe— economically AND militarily.

@EuroFrontier @Gimblin the Europeans have the capability to shoot down us aircraft, if they decide to remove us bases from their land the us couldn't support a ground war against Europe its to far away and with too much equipment, so politics is used instead, hence political high ground is important.
