Years ago when Obama was running for his first term, my neighbors kept talking about how great Obama was. I never said a word to them about being conservative because back then I was more centrist. At the time I was a 1099 consultant so I paid for my own health insurance. It was about $650 for a family of three and we had a fairly low deductible. After Obama won and the ACA passed, I lost my health insurance and was told by BCBS that I had to go through the government website to apply. My insurance went from an affordable $650 a month to $2400 a month with a $10k deductible per family member. When I said this to my neighbor, they called me a liar. I asked them where they got their news and they said they watched Jon Stewart. I laughed so hard and they never spoke to me again. I’m glad they finally moved. I just wanted to say this: these are the people we are arguing with online. Completely uninformed buffoons. If you get your information from a late night comedian talk show host, we are not on the same level. Good riddance, Colbert.

A year ago, I got a high end flight simulator, with VR goggles and now I'm convinced I could land a commercial airliner if the flight crew were incapacitated. No really, I'm pretty sure I could! 😄 😂

@JianduidiR @RX_79Ground Two web cartridge belts is unusual. Extra ammunition in the expendable cotton bandolier is more typical. This picture is from the Korean War, but basically same as WW2.

@MarkOliverio @downbadcomment I'm no sound engineer but I know what you mean. I met a girl whose voice reverberated inside my skull and caused physical discomfort. Marriage to her would have been some kind of Geneva Convention violation.

I spent 8 years as a Sound Engineer and I have an excellent and sensitive ear for calling out which frequencies need to be dialed back. Some women in particular have a voice that that will send something up the back of my spine indeed, there are some women who hit those certain high-mid frequencies that can really drive you up the wall. Like, Rosie Perez in "White Men Can't Jump", that voice would send me running.

@TheyCallMeTomO1 Mom was a hoarder, but you would never know it. For about 20 years, I would sneak things out, piecemeal, using all sorts of creative subterfuge. Exhausting but still better than negotiating every single piece one at a time, like you tried. I know how hard it is. 🫡

Today was a rough day. Helping a hoarder clean out her home. There is soo soo soo much stuff. Everything you can imagine is stacked up and stuffed into every nook and cranny. One room is just a huge pile of "stuff". Turned out she's not ready. Her daughter thought she was and called us (her friends) for help. About 20 minute into it, the hoarder started freaking out. We left. We offered to be back when she's more ready. I've learned through the years that the hoarding person needs to not be present when the cleanup is in progress..

@WellitHappened1 My town- like many towns- had a fixit shop, if some appliance broke we took it to them and chances were very good that they'd get it working again for very little money. That place is now a nail parlor, and fixit shops are a thing of the past. 😭

My dryer broke, instead of going out and buying a new one, I bought a 16$ replacement part and fixed it myself. How many people out here today can say honestly they are fixing there things instead of tossing them and buy a new one.

@JackPosobiec @FischerKing64 Yup it's funny how the UK justifies declaring war on Germany as a means to save Poland from Hitler then they hand over Poland to Stalin to subjugate torture and murder Poles. The whole thing was a lie.

Not many people know about the head of the USSR's secret police under Stalin, Lavrentiy Beria One of the most brutal men in history, he ordered massacres of Poles, torture of dissdents, and millions of murders of Christians Beria was known to drive around Moscow and point at women and young girls on the street. They were then brought to him by his secret police to be raped, no matter their ages. This even included famous actresses. If they refused, they were tortured in his basement After Stalin's death, Beria was arrested by Marshall Zhukov and executed as Khrushchev took power After the fall of the USSR, workers discovered skeletons of young girls in his backyard that had been buried naked, their bodies doused with chemicals. This discovery included the skulls of children

@Stephen19718352 @Nickisbackbaby I have a minority friend who keeps getting public service/ government jobs. He literally walked off a line for the interview because it was too long and they CALLED HIM on the phone to come back. He's sent me gag photos of himself sleeping on the job, stealing toilet paper etc..

I scored a 210 out of a possible 200 on the written and physical test to be a firefighter in a major city in the early 2000’s (extra 10 points for residency). I was 13th on a ranked candidate list, which should have afforded me hiring in the first academy on this list. The first academy was comprised entirely of black women. Over 150 people were hired from this list and I was never called

@romanhelmetguy In my district, G&T programs were a DEI scam to equalize classroom outcomes. They impeded the smart kids by taking us out of class 2 days a week, put us in a bullshit daycare disguised as "creativity lab" with new hire teachers, forcing us to play catch up. Good riddance.

@ThrillaRilla369 Big deal. No generation that grew up with affluence Gen X did is tough in any meaningful way. We had so much excess, we could invent stupid shit like DEI, adult daycare for girlbosses, sit by while our jobs were given away, towns gutted. We're just Boomers with an attitude.

If you wonder why Gen X is the way we are, just remember that our teachers all hyped up a shuttle launch and then it blew up in front of us on TV. No counseling. No hugs. No explanation. They just wheeled the TV out of class and went back to teaching English class.

GenX here- GenX is basically Boomers but with less money and a stupid chip on their shoulder because their parents were unconcerned. Plus we were force fed stupid ideas that led to DEI and girlboss HR departments. We'll be leaving a huge disgusting mess for you to clean up, sorry.

Gen X also allowed geriatrics to stay in power while woke, dei, and socialism crept in becuase life was so good. Now everyone younger is paying the price and fighting to fix it. The best part of the youth being awake to all yhe nonsense is they're fighting for the future the older generations let slip away.

The top AI model today is smarter than 99% of humans at coding. Next year, it will be smarter than 99% of humans at medicine, law, and engineering. The year after that, it will be smarter than all of us at everything.
