@FernieHockey16 Would love to know what the logic was behind the KIJHL casting off some of these teams. Top 5 in attendance but not top 5 in kickback money to Blackfin Sports?

A note sent to me 100 Mile was top 5 attendance, top 5 in sponsorship revenue, arena upgrades(100 more seats being added for capacity of 850). They have committed to the WIJHL for next year, with funds coming from a nearby BCHL team to be given funds for the next season.

@craigmohr9 @KijhlS The ability to charge players more money. That's all they ever cared about. Whether families will be dumb enough to fall for it remains to be seen.

@KijhlS Side note I am not a fan of the direction. Not sure what teams gain from all of this Junior A level stuff.

@ColbyCohen36 @TheWHL The tampering rule between branches only applies in-season. It doesn't apply once a player is done playing his season.

This is probably why @TheWHL commissioner Dan Near is sending memos to his clubs telling them to contact players directly who are CURRENTLY playing in the USHL.. should they do it with NTDP guys too? I think that’s called tampering. Can’t imagine USA hockey or the USHL is happy when a league commissioner is advocating for tampering with teenage hockey players. Tough look for the @TheWHL @CHLHockey

@FrescaEE @MarkSeidel 90% of junior hockey teams are “cash flow negative.” The infrastructure, salaries, travel, school packages. Big cost anchors. They’re A) Nice tax write-offs for the wealthy and B) an appreciating asset. Teams were being bought for $5M not so long ago…

Not that I’m trying to influence your 61 followers but let’s put a friendly bet of a Coffee on the line that the next 3 CHL Teams that are sold will average $20 million per? If I lose, I’ll go to the nearest Tim Hortons to you. Fair?
FrescaEnthusiast@FrescaEE

@MarkSeidel No one is lining up to pay that much money for organizations that are declining in relevance and financial health. That's why they keep delaying the Chilliwack team in the WHL. It's wild how insecure CHL people feel the need to make stuff like this up.

@FrescaEE @MarkSeidel Sara Sting sold for $25mil. Hamilton sold for over $25M. That price doesn’t exist anymore Teams will not sell for under $25M anymore.

@goinshelf44 @FernieHockey16 They absolutely are not wishing they had stayed. The only ones who returned are the ones who were performing exceptionally poorly and didn't have the skill set to compete at the NCAA's superior level. The top prospects are leaving at first opportunity.

Dhali - the top kids are in at 16 but very few are leaving at 18 - so it’s generally 3 yrs plus still - even many that have left at 19 are getting their eyes opened to the level and less opportunity and wish they stayed - we’ll see a shift in some of that bc stock drops

The @JrProspectsHL is ran like a very well oiled machine. Only positive vibes come out of that league. It’s interesting @playhockeyedm turned off the comments on Facebook & Instagram because they were getting questions they didn’t want to hear. Tough look for them. They keep ignoring the Special Meeting on April 15th. The Members Association will get their opportunity to vote as the Bylaws indicate such. They can’t hide forever on this issue. The families & kids deserve better. Hopefully everyone can get on the same page & help bring positive change to this community.

@JeffMarek Ah yes, move to a city that has never had good attendance, and which is currently even smaller than it was the last time it had a failed franchise. More brilliance from Bryan Crawford.

@outlaws11445 @playhockeyedm @JrProspectsHL That "group of buddies" sure does seem to be growing awfully quickly and getting more and more positive reviews from families, without taking hardworking Canadians' money to line the pockets of overpaid Hockey Canada execs.

@BigNate6702 @WIJHLHockey I can and will say that. They won't be handcuffed by an archaic and corrupt organization like Hockey Canada, will actually be able to prioritize their players' needs over red tape, and won't exist simply to prop a barely relevant CJHL wannabe league like the KI is becoming.

@CrashCondHockey But then the CJHL teams wouldn't be able to collect tuition money from as many gullible families for a Junior B caliber experience!

If CJHL leagues went back to “normal” roster numbers it would strengthen their feeders such as U18 leagues and JrB leagues that typically close enough by for call ups it would benefit leagues, teams, budgets and most importantly player development. 25man rosters hurts the game

@olauson23 @FernieHockey16 "The top tier of sanctioned" would be the WHL. But either way the term has lost all meaning with what a disaster the CJHL has become. Other leagues are sanctioned - just by other bodies. Many of them are better run.

This probably means the other teams in the KIJHL are elevating to the top tier of sanctioned jr in the province. Too bad for some of these markets who have had membership to the KIJHL for so long to have to make a new league.

@ArctypeConsult @FernieHockey16 The vast majority of those teams, besides the SJ, are not community owned, and haven't been for a while. Most lose money and rely on finding "daddy owners" who cover the losses in exchange for a guaranteed roster spot for their son.

@FernieHockey16 By this logic, then why bother trying anything. With no Tier 1 in BC, the KIJHL going that route is the viable option. Teams arent going to compete financially with BCHL, but who cares, look at AJ, SJ, MJ, community owned teams who found their niches.
