For all the folks saying Rory is the greatest European golfer of all-time. I am not a ranker of golfers, but Harry Vardon would like a word. In an era where the Masters and PGA Championship didn’t exist Harry Vardon won 6 Opens and 1 US Open (and he only played in two US Opens during his prime and won one and came in second to another UK player in the second). Had he played in the US Open every year during his prime, he might have won it ten times. He came to America on a 1900 tour and played over 100 matches and lost 2 (to the same golfer). He also was a major catalyst to the American Golf Boom which inspired Ouimet, Jones and Sarazen.

I am so incredibly proud of my youngest daughter Charlotte. She followed in the footsteps of two of the best lacrosse goalies her school has ever produced, which is never easy- as an 8th grader parents would ask her if she was going to be ready for Varsity. It was a ton of pressure on a 13 year old following two great goalies. This evening in her first ever playoff game she gave up 2 goals and made 6 saves (75% save percentage) and eclipsed 100 saves for the season becoming only the second goalie in her school’s history to top the 100 save mark in a single season and the only Freshman. Charlotte finished the regular season with the most saves of any goalie in Western Florida and her pass completion rate is likely the best in the state at over 99% (1 turnover in 117 passes). All that being said, it wasn’t all rainbows. In 2-3 games she certainly looked like a Freshman in goal, but she has worked so hard at finding her mental balance. This evening with our announcers out of town, I walked into the booth and took the mic and got a little teary eyed when I announced that she had reached 100 saves! The girls won their playoff game and play on Tuesday for the District Championship!!! I apologize for the non-golf post that may seem braggy, but I am so damn proud of her. A couple of games ago she was in tears after a bad game and she found a way to refocus and shine in the playoffs. #NonGolfHistory
