Hands-on learning helps ideas rise—just like pancakes! The science behind pancakes is a delicious mix of chemistry, physics, and biology. Fifth grade students found a delicious hands-on way to explore states of matter and chemical changes! #handsonlearning #science @ECGlobalElem

It was worth it to be hit with HUNDREDS!!! of water balloons - each representing a passed test in 3-5! Every kid participated because we just had that many, so the celebration was for everyone!! #proudprincipal @ECGlobalElem

@wxbrad Just posted similar data from my Tempest. I’m near RDU so I use that for comparison. March and April were about +4° and May was +2°. I received 15” of rain which is about +4” above average. (I used past 30 years data for average).

Happy first day of meteorological summer. Spring 2025 tied for the 2nd warmest on record in #Charlotte 1878-2025. Yes, last week was very cool, but the entire season was very warm. The cool snap actually dropped us back to the tie for 2nd, otherwise it would have been the warmest all by itself. March and April were the warmest with +4.8° and +5.2° above. May was just +0.8° above average. #cltwx #ncwx #scwx #wcnc

@EducationNC Dr. Tim Drake’s article is a “must read” for anyone concerned about school leadership preparation. Hopefully, our state legislature will see it and do what’s best to support our public schools.

This week, I had the privilege of participating in one of my favorite @GCSchoolsNC traditions: the graduation walks. High school seniors return to their elementary schools in caps and gowns, welcomed by cheering students and the teachers who helped them begin their journey. It’s a celebration of how far they’ve come and where they started. For me, this one was deeply personal. My daughter was part of McNair Elementary’s first kindergarten class, and now, she’s part of its first graduating class. But that’s not all: this NGHS graduating class was also my last homeroom class as a teacher. Watching them walk those halls again, grown and glowing with pride, reminded me why we do this work. This is the power of public education—strong starts, meaningful milestones, and a clear path forward. Guilford County Schools is building a trajectory of success for every student, every day and I’m so proud to be part of it. #publicschools #nced #classof2025 #seniorwalk #GCSandProud
