Unpopular opinion 🇩🇪 Duolingo will not make you fluent in German. It will teach you to protect a streak. Not hold a conversation. Real fluency comes from: • Reading full sentences in context • Speaking with actual humans • Making embarrassing mistakes and surviving them • Consuming German content daily The green owl can start your journey. @GermanSimply_ with duolingo, you'll think you're making progress untill you're faced with real life situation then everything vanishes. it just has a way of giving you dopamine spike that your brain construes as real progress. however, I'd say it helps expose beginner to new words.

Literal: I only understand train station. Actual meaning: I have no idea what you're saying. "Tomaten auf den Augen haben." Literal: To have tomatoes on your eyes.
