I get it, but it’s only an alpha, I’m convinced it’ll improve. As for the loss of creativity, I was saying exactly the same thing when we moved from V5 to V6. We gained realism, but the trade-off was less creativity. In the end, it makes sense… what’s feasible and realistic doesn’t quite align with that vivid, flat, dreamlike aesthetic. So we had to find new ways to bring creativity back while keeping that realistic balance. Not sure if that makes sense haha.

You’re right, Vincent, but in this first version, it feels a bit like we’re losing the spirit and creativity of Midjourney. Some features aren’t working nearly as well, such as the moodboards or the SREFs, which is a bit disappointing. But I’m not too worried and remain optimistic; the Midjourney teams will do their utmost to put things right. It’s an alpha version and there’s still plenty of room for improvement before the final release.

I’m about to drop a take on @midjourney: people complaining about V8 clearly learned AI on tools like Seedream or Nano Banana. Let me remind you that Midjourney is a tool rooted in craft, iteration, and personalization to reach a final image. And that’s exactly what makes it so distinctive, so aesthetic, and so unique. I’ll defend Midjourney with everything I’ve got, because today, it’s probably the only tool that doesn’t encourage shortcuts, and more importantly, doesn’t feed into slop content. So, thank you @midjourney & @DavidSHolz for preserving what made your strength and for staying true to what gave rise to so many AI artists.

Je pense sincèrement qu’il faut manipuler l’outil dans le temps afin de se l’approprier et en tirer des conclusions. Je me souviens, lors du passage de la V5 à la V6, nous étions tous déroutés… et pourtant, on a tous trouvé un nouveau moyen de prompter et d’arriver à du beau. Soyons patients… les outils tels que NB et SD nous ont trop habitué à avoir ce qu’on veut en 30s, au détriment de la singularité.
