@macastel3 Marco - you're the Trump Whisperer. You read thru him like he's a pane of glass (although we all know him as a pain in the ass).
English

Tariffs was too boring and people didn’t like.
Now move to pharma! (I’m happy his attention now will taken by this and we can get back to work)

RIP pharma stocks...

@macastel3 "A regional diplomat based in Beijing told Reuters China's message to Southeast Asia was 'We will buy stuff from you.'" China learning the lesson that when you bully your neighbors, they have no interest helping you out when you're in a pickle.
English

I guess they said: enough with jokes come back when you have something serious to propose (not 80% or 50%)
Then walk out of the room

🇨🇳🇺🇸Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng abruptly left during trade negotiations with U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent, though no explanation was provided for his sudden departure. #CHINA #US #TRUMP #TARIFFS

@macastel3 "Among the main drivers of Beijing's climb-down were internal signals that Chinese companies were struggling to avoid bankruptcies and to replace the U.S. market, three people familiar with the Chinese government's thinking said." Yikes. All talk, no domestic demand.
English

@macastel3 I think that was fake news. FYI, when you don't have a strong hand, you fold:

@MichaelAArouet $10K machine to do work that could be done by a minimum wage person - brilliant economics. Who's going to clean and maintain that robot? Sorry, the economics just don't work. That thing is going to require so much maintenace, it'll be a nightmare, especially cleaning a toilet.
English

@macastel3 Every little bit counts. Before you know it, you'll be the Chinese Amazon.
English

@PerfectOurUnion The problem is you always relapse. I saw it with the crazy Republicans when Bush demanded we go to war in Iraq. How'd that turn out? All those war supporters morphed into MAGA supporters. You'll have your new shiny object soon and still never grasp you're falling for lies.
English

Leaving MAGA was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I allowed myself to believe, and act upon, Trump's and the GOP's lies. Furthermore, the prospects of walking away from a community and second family begot a personal tumult and turmoil; it took me a year to finally leave MAGA.
I implore everyone to show grace to any Trump voter who expresses remorse, and is willing to make amends for past actions and rhetoric that may have hurt others.

@JChengWSJ The Chinese Dream: struggle, struggle, struggle. When do they get to enjoy the fruits of their laboor? Oh, never, what a sales pitch. And we wonder why they never have elections in China.
English

The Economist: “Xi Jinping, urged them to ‘struggle, struggle, struggle to the end’…Amid a trade war that could threaten millions of jobs in China, the message is clear: keep your noses to the grindstone and blame any pain on America.”

@macastel3 Pretty dumb move when your economy is crumbling, your real estate market has crashed, your youth unemployment numbers are so bad you don't release them. The Americans are incredibly stupid, but the Chinese aren't much better. Sometimes you should negotiate without face.
English

@MikeDKirby @jurgen_nauditt His generals got decimated by the Vietnamese, not sure we're dealing with first-raters there. And which generals are we talking about? Seems to be a roundabout of military leaders these days. In power one day, off to jail the next. No way to run an army, an air or rocket force.
English

@jurgen_nauditt Never drink the tea 🤦♂️
Tho if anything happened to him I’m sure his generals gave instructions to flatten Russia. So he’s probably fine.
English

@P_Kallioniemi What a stupid message. Kind of explains why so many in China want him gone. Bite and defecate on the ones who brought you to the party and helped you get rich. 60 years ago, China wanted to nuke Russia and the Americans talked them out of it. What profound Xignorance.

China exports jump 8% in April despite tariffs on.ft.com/43dzvwL
English

@haugejostein I'm sure the margins they sell to those other SE Asian nations are going to be as large as the ones they get in the US, right? Not really the flex you think it is. Also, you think all those clothes that are large sizes are going to fit these Asian people? Tariffs are hurting.
English

I hate to say I told you so, but...I told you so.
China has reduced its dependence on the US market. Because of this, Trump's tariffs simply can't do that much damage to China.

Jostein Hauge@haugejostein
China's share of exports going to the United States is decreasing. Because of this, further US tariffs on China will hurt the Chinese economy less compared to Trump's 1st term.
English

@DougWahl1 Bush is part of the reason we're in this mess. No sympathy for that devil.
