Sometimes I find myself haunted by the question: How did white people do it? How did they engineer such profound, widespread self-loathing within an entire race of people? Black people have been conditioned to despise nearly every aspect of what makes us black; from the deep richness of our skin, to our full features, to the kinky texture and beauty of our hair, we've internalized a hatred so deep that it turns against our very reflection in the mirror, I struggle to comprehend the sheer scale and success of this psychological violence inflicted by white supremacy. Through centuries of enslavement, colonialism, relentless dehumanization, and the constant bombardment of messages that blackness equals inferiority, demonized in language, religion, media, beauty standards, and every institution, they didn't just oppress our bodies, they colonized our minds. The self-hatred and deep-seated trauma that exists amongst black people worldwide is so ingrained that there's barely any real path to healing left, the psychological and spiritual assault that white supremacy has carried out against black people for centuries has accomplished exactly what it set out to do, they won that battle a long time ago, and admitting that truth honestly makes me feel physically sick. In the next 500 years, black Africans will most likely still be bleaching their skin, I don't know how whyte people did it💔.
