No voter ID, especially when combined with mail-in ballots, means the system is engineered to make fraud impossible to prove. Everyone knows that you can barely get through your week without showing ID for the most banal activities, like shopping at Costco. The only reason to ban ID is to hide massive voter fraud.
Katie Miller@KatieMiller

The reality is there's mass amounts of cheating in our elections. Just because there's an engineered lack of data, does not mean there isn't data to the contrary. The new CBS/YouGov poll shows that 80% of Americans support Voter ID including 80% of black Americans & 77% of Hispanic Americans. Yet why is it that Congress seems so intractable to wanting to pass a such a popular policy?

@FactCheckBrit @elonmusk “Controlled by the White House?” Seriously? By requiring proof of citizenship and ID?

@JAEngProf @elonmusk Again, you are conflating the two issues. Are you having trouble with your reading comprehension? The SAVE Act needs overhauling to ensure elections are not controlled by the White House. Then you might find more support.

@FactCheckBrit @elonmusk Nonsense. Voter ID is not draconian. Yesterday Democrats were offered a clean Voter ID amendment and voted no.

Strawman argument. The studies are legitimate and span decades. Democrats are resisting the draconian SAVE Act which gives control of the electoral process to the (corrupt) government, and in turn control over who can vote. Libs are not against voter ID. You are conflating issues.

@FactCheckBrit @elonmusk Fake studies. Fraud is not widespread. It is very specific, targeted, and protected from investigation. Watching Democrats resisting voter ID and creating barriers to investigation are all the proof needed.

@elonmusk FACT CHECK: False. Many studies have been undertaken over the years and the established voter fraud rate is a mere 0.00006%. Fun fact: Donald Trump has more felonies than there have been cases of voter fraud in the last 20 years. Please stick to cars and space vehicles Elon.

“Layered verification processes” sounds good, but means nothing. It is not possible to audit mail-in ballots, even in theory. Signature verification is very poor and, in practice, not really done. The system does not really confirm who is actually voting. The ballot passes through many hands with no chain of custody.

I took a CNN article about the Iran war and found 5 manipulation techniques inside it. Not opinions. Named, documented techniques. This is exactly how the news is built to shape what you think before you reach a single fact. Technique 1: Verdict in the Headline. The headline read "Trump's Iran War Message Marked by Exaggerated Threats and Shifting, Contradictory Goals." Three editorial conclusions. Zero evidence presented. The manipulation was complete before you read a single word of the article.

The basic RealID alone is sufficient to vote, but not to register to vote, if it doesn’t indicate citizenship. You need some other documentation of citizenship, of which there are many. If you don’t have one of those, there is a process for attesting (under oath) that you are a citizen. congress.gov/bill/119th-con…

Good point. However, we don’t have a good clear number of the total in the country. How would we estimate the total? That is why we need another census and the ability to determine who is here. Where I live, we went from non-Americans being unusual to everywhere in a few years. Whole industries, Construction being a good example, have been taken over. My Granddaughter’s elementary school class was more than half from families that came in illegally.

@JAEngProf @DarrigoMelanie Like even if no one was born in the US between Jan 21, 2021 and Jan 21, 2025 (let alone immigrated legally), 20 million would still be more than the natural number of deaths in that period combined with the estimated population growth.

Maybe read your bill? The accepted forms of ID to vote under the SAVE Act: 1. Enhanced REAL ID: Only available in 5 states. Costs up to $50 (poll tax) and requires a birth certificate which 40M Americans lack access to. 2. Valid passport: 146M Americans do not have and costs at least $130 (poll tax). Trump gutted the agencies issuing them. 3. U.S. military ID card presented with military record of service. 4. Government-issued photo ID showing place of birth: 300M Americans do not have one, and costs up to $50 (poll tax). 5. Non-Enhanced REAL ID driver’s license, state ID, or tribal ID shown in conjunction with a birth certificate (40M lack access to) that matches your last name (which 69M women do not have due to marriage) and other forms of documentation, and which require a cost to obtain (poll tax). If this was truly a voter ID bill, it would provide every eligible voter in the U.S. a voter ID, and provide them at no cost to align with the 24th Amendment — so why doesn’t your bill do that if voter ID is so popular?

Do you understand what the word efficiency means? The majority of our power comes from burning hydrocarbons. If that is where your power comes from, EVs burn more fuel than equivalent gasoline/diesel vehicles per mile. In that situation, EVs are less efficient. EVs really only make sense when you have nuclear power (Wind and Solar will always be niche applications. It just inherently costs too much to gather up diffuse resources like sunshine and wind.). With cheap nuclear power, efficiency is no longer a concern. When we do get cheap abundant nuclear power we can still burn hydrocarbons where it makes sense because it will be very easy to scrub CO2 from the atmosphere and control it at whatever concentration we desire. Hydrocarbons will still be the preferred fuel for the foreseeable future for some applications because of its high energy density. This is basic Engineering 101 stuff. You won’t find any competent Engineer, who knows Thermodynamics and Economics, who disagrees.

@JAEngProf @GraphCall @wintonARK So you are saying that the old way of power generation is very inefficient and because of this, we should also keep using our inefficient gasoline cars? What exactly are you advocating for? Inefficiency? Or just burning shit for every purpose?

a barrel of oil can provide as much electricity as a 400W solar panel does annually. a barrel of oil runs $92 and comes with a few minor logistical complications. this year the solar panel should run less than $90; you can order online, ships in a week.

@Blue_Mage @DarrigoMelanie The US has historically broadly accepted different forms of ID. However, this is a new problem. Biden Et Al flooded the country with millions of illegal aliens. Canada has their own immigration problems and will soon have to do the same.

@JAEngProf @DarrigoMelanie None of which has anything to do with your claims about whether or not other countries require citizens to prove their citizenship in order to register to vote or to actually vote. Have you ever seen the list of acceptable IDs to vote in Canada?

Neither have I to date. However, now we are flooded with illegal aliens and several states have issued them Driver’s Licenses which either registers them automatically to vote or allows them to register. When polled, 20% of illegals registered say they have voted, academic studies to the contrary notwithstanding. I have worked as a Poll Watcher and seen vote fraud personally. My State has required ID to vote for many decades, even so, a few years ago, my wife was turned away from voting because when she went to vote, someone had already voted in her name. It is very real.

@JAEngProf @DarrigoMelanie That actually has nothing to do with why most countries don't require proof of citizenship to register to vote. The issue is that most countries don't require citizens to register themselves to vote *at all*. The fact that Americans have to is deeply weird.
