Just to be clear, when I look at teams adding NCAA talent, it’s rarely ever about expecting those players to transform a lineup overnight. It’s honestly much broader than that, and it’s about adding layers to an organization. It isn’t always about finding stars for the NHL. To me, it's about creating internal competition that forces players to earn their ice time, and prevents the kind of stagnation that can develop when there’s no pressure from below. And yeah, you want them to help your AHL/NHL team win some games. If you occasionally uncover a legitimate NHL contributor, that’s a bonus. But the real value is in building an environment where players are pushed, depth is maintained, and opportunities exist for those who earn them. This is just something I've thought, as I obviously advocate for these types of signings.
