@CofRedCentral If the flames win the second drawing of the lottery, but the first winner is New Jersey who only moves up 10 spots to 2nd, the flames would pick 3rd. Thats why they have a 0.3% chance

@stampsfan_22 @miketgould In a vacuum yes they are more likely to draft at 6th overall than 4th overall, but also:
-They have a 79.2% chance of drafting in the top 5
-They have a 34.6% chance of picking 4th or better
-Therefore, they have a better chance of picking in the top 4 than picking 6th luckily

@miketgould In the grand schem that 5% is a 1/4th jump, there is a bigger chance then your argument of it’s only 5% shows. 1/4 =0.25 so basically yes you say it’s only 5% but if we are doing the math properly it’s showing that it’s far more likely they choose 6

Just demonstrably not true. Odds of the Flames picking at 6 are 20%. Odds of them picking at 4 are 15%. For me, it goes McKenna at 1, and then a huge shelf of 6-8 guys immediately thereafter. Including Stenberg, Carels, Malhotra, Reid, Verhoeff. Flames are 100% guaranteed one.

Trading Noah Gregor for Fabian Zetterlund is kinda funny in hindsight because Zetterlund plays like 95% Noah Gregor and 5% Mike Bossy

@RonoAnalyst Keep the shootouts but make 3 on 3 8 minutes and make the shootout sudden death from round 1 instead of round 4 with a shorter time limit (~5-8 seconds) so it better reflects the best players getting breakaways

Just quickly put together a table based on the following rules:
- 3 points for a regular win
- 2 points for an overtime win
- 1 point for a tie (shootouts eliminated) or an overtime loss
I’m not sure if it’s ideal, but it seems better to me than the current system.

@itsWozzz Don’t give a shit. Not even a Canucks fan here but this is such a bad take. Canucks in my opinion have more legit prospects that can play. All Flames have so far is Wolf who’s legit and maybe Parekh who has a lot of work to do defensively. Gridin etc these guys are avg.

@NiqVelji Flames rebuild didn’t start until the Elias lindholm trade in January of ‘24. If your argument is that they shouldve started the rebuild earlier, thats fine & I’d agree, but Scott Wheeler is about to rank them in his top 3 prospect pools and he is one of the best in the business.

Imagine losing Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau in 2022 and doing victory laps about Yan Kuznetsov in 2026.
I would absolutely be livid in 2030, 4 years after the Hughes era if Vancouver had Calgary’s currently mid pipeline.
