Just had a pint with a mate who earns £60k a year but was complaining about being absolutely skint by the 20th of the month.
Turns out he’s dropping £850/month on a Range Rover PCP, plus £150 on insurance, AND he's financing his summer holiday on Klarna. He is literally bleeding cash on liabilities, but genuinely thinks investing £200 a month into an ISA is "too slow."
People would rather look rich to strangers than build quiet, compounding wealth.
