@sid_rambling @YZALMS @LeeAndersonMP_ That kind of rhetoric isn’t unique to Islam. History shows similar attitudes in Christianity, like the Spanish Inquisition, where people were forced to convert or face punishment. The issue isn’t the religion itself, but extremism in any tradition.

@sid_rambling @YZALMS @LeeAndersonMP_ The idea that Christianity “advanced” via the Enlightenment while Islam is “stuck in the 7th century” is a myth. The Enlightenment often challenged church authority, and the Islamic world has a long history of science, philosophy, and debate. Reality is more complex than slogans.

@GBNEWS Nigel Farage, longtime champion of Chagossians everywhere 🙄 Amazing how he only seems to become their “closest ally” when there’s a headline in it. What a coincidence.

@PaulD267058 @RobertJenrick This isn’t right, though. Gas isn’t as rigid as oil, but UK prices are still heavily linked to international benchmarks and supply/demand, especially via European hubs. That’s exactly why prices spiked across all suppliers in 2022, not just imports.

@JohnRushforth1 @RobertJenrick I didn't ignore anything - you're the one not providing any details or nuance in your posts. The pertinent point is that the 'international markets' trope is misleading as gas buying is not as rigid, price-wise as oil.

Britain has paid Norway over £100 billion for gas since 2021. For gas they’re drilling in the North Sea, the same sea Ed Miliband has banned new drilling in on the British side. Madness.

@PaulD267058 @RobertJenrick The classic “you don’t understand markets” while confidently ignoring that UK gas prices still track international benchmarks 🙄 But sure, it’s not global markets, it’s just a conspiracy of “lefty zealots.” Much more plausible.

@JohnRushforth1 @RobertJenrick You haven't provided any nuance yourself, John. Gas is bought in regional markets and is more flexible price-wise than oil. Too many lefty, renewable energy zealots like yourself are just spouting the 'global market' line without thinking about it.

@Stewart09322559 @TiceRichard @KathrynPorter26 The Low Carbon Contracts Company hasn’t “made” money; it’s not designed to. It’s a pass-through: collects from suppliers, pays generators, and returns any surplus. Billions flow through it, but profit = basically zero.

@Stewart09322559 @TiceRichard @KathrynPorter26 So where should the money go then? into fossil fuels, with all the price shocks and climate damage? Or billions more into the North Sea so private companies can rake in profits? Not exactly a cost-free alternative.

@GBNEWS 25 years of every outlet “lying” in perfect sync 🙄 The Bradford riots were messy and complex, not some hidden truth everyone missed.

@TiceRichard @reformparty_uk Rising UK gilt yields are plausible, but these numbers look off. A 10yr at 5% would be unusually high outside crisis periods, and a 1yr at 4.5% vs a 3.75% BoE rate suggests outdated or mixed data. The vulnerability point stands, but the figures need to be checked.

@Benjyboyo1 @RupertLowe10 The US homicide rate is about 4–5 times higher than the UK. 🇺🇸 approx 5–6 per 100,000 🇬🇧 approx 1 per 100,000 That is just counting, and the UK does not have the death penalty.
