@wh1tby1 @anon_opin Who said anything about the Watford Gap? The joke was always the North starts at Watford in Hertfordshire. Anyway I've spent all my life living North of the Watford Gap and I don't think people would call me Northern. I'm happy to say that the West starts at the Watford Gap

There is no north-south divide in the UK. There is London & the Home Counties, and the rest of the country.

@ColonelWallop @MockKing_J @anon_opin The Danelaw cut the other way and is still seen in a lot of culture. The Severn/Trent splits highland and lowland England but Middlesbrough has more in common with Grimsby than it does with Hereford

@TonysimpsonTony @anon_opin No, in England there's been more of an East/West divide. The Danelaw being an example and 1,000 years ago the North West and North East were separate. Later the East looked to Europe and the West to America

@_stancw05 @anon_opin Maybe if you are talking about the 5 largest cities and rural areas more than 40 miles from the nearest large town but there's a sub-rural culture as well as suburban. With people working and socialising in small cities but living in market towns and villages. They are not rural

@anon_opin i’d say the split in england is urban vs rural more than anything else. politically they’re black and white there’s essentially no crossover

@anon_opin Remember when we used to get Aussie Rules Football, The Flying Doctors, Cell Block H, Leo Wanker, Rolfie. Now all we get is that one legged bloke on Channel 4.

It's ridiculous how much American news we get in the UK when socially & culturally we have far more in common with the other Anglo nations. How many people can even name the Australian prime minister when we get a blow by blow account of everything Trump does.

Film producers in the US should be obliged to provide subtitles in English. It's not "runs good on regular gas", it's "runs well on normal petrol".

@DraytonCanary1 @oro7777777 @Jparker7398 If Coventry, Ipswich and Southampton win promotion and Spurs are not relegated then the PL will be extremely tight. I'd expect Spurs to sort themselves out after a lucky escape. Sunderland could have a tough 2nd season but that looks a tough league to survive in

Ipswich have moved ahead of us again no doubt. They've had a consistent investment and stable management something we've not had. I'm hoping now though under Clement and with the investment of the Attanasio group, we can begin to bridge that gap. #ncfc

@ReadNorwich Kvistgaarden looked a better fit to English football than Van Wolfwinkel but not in the current set up. If West Ham go down they might be interested

@PlymMatth @anon_opin What football pitch? Our local high school didn't really encourage football to be played so the local youth football team played on the local park

Great Britain would get far more medals in the Winter Olympics if these sports were promoted and taught at all state schools instead of just a bunch of rich kids who's parents can afford holidays in Verbier during the February half term.

@anon_opin Sports are not really taught at state schools. A few lads who live locally have been taken on over the years at pro football clubs but it was youth football clubs that got them playing, they barely played at school

@oro7777777 @Jparker7398 Two years up/down basically So fairly and very stable now As a force at this level Simply need to see how they do next season and better than last A good manager no doubt of course Track record does soak for itself

@JMO_96 @Jparker7398 Agreed. Although we have good players, I think they won't attract attention until Summer 2027. I think we can genuinely strengthen over Summer

@Jparker7398 1 useful thing is we don't have any real targets for other clubs to buy from us this summer. We've had far too much squad rotation and injuries to key players for them to be genuine targets for other clubs. No Sargents, Sainz, Saras this year

@WozzaJ74 @Jparker7398 We've had a bad 30 years but that has been hidden by Ipswich underperforming even more since 2002. Both clubs have seen others overtake us

@WozzaJ74 @Jparker7398 Would be the first time since the days of Bobby Robson apart from a brief flurry under Burley. We're well set for a return to parity at least within a few years

@AndyisStiff @Jparker7398 I'm old enough to remember both clubs being top flight regulars. Both clubs got too used to being out of the top flight and needed a mentality change. You changed yours a couple of years before we did but we could see a PL derby before the end of the decade

@Jparker7398 🚜 fan here. I remember us scraping a last minute draw at Peterborough at the start of our League One time the same day you lot were beating Man City and thinking ‘that’s quite a gap now’. We closed it, just as you did when you went into League One. Keep the faith!

@GraemeBrown1 @Jparker7398 Between 1970 and 1995 there was always one of us in the top flight and for more than half that time both of us were up. Since then both of us have been out of the top flight for the majority of the time. I can see both clubs heading to the point where both are in the top flight

@Jparker7398 🚜boy fan but tbf totally agree. We’ve been helped by decent owners & very decent manager. It looks like you might have the same. If so future is bright. I love the rivalry between our clubs but don’t see why it can’t be a friendly one 🤷‍♂️

@RobinNCST @SamJermy I'd be happy to see them go down. We tend to avoid away matches North of Manchester. Losing Blackburn will partly make up for losing Coventry and Leicester

@JohnWilson0812 @RobinNCST @SamJermy I just read the article. We'll see. It doesn't surprise me but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a fine this time. Part of the problem of one year's accounts being published towards the end of the following season is that it's almost too late to deduct points
