In 1990, Spy Magazine sent out checks with increasingly smaller amounts disguised as refunds to some of the richest people in New York as a social experiment, eventually sending one for 13 cents. Only two people cashed the 13 cent check: a Saudi arms dealer and Donald J. Trump.

At 8:00 am on my way to a meeting, I saw gas at $3.74 & thought “better fill up.” Came out at 10:00 am, it was $3.99. Drove to my usual place, it’s $4.09. #sigh

Writers like Dan Brown and Andy Weir, who write ugly and clumsy prose at the sentence level, are sometimes extremely engaging storytellers in ways that transcend their technical deficiencies. “Project: Hail Mary” is a story about a lonely astronaut who undertakes a one-way mission into deep space to do a science thing that is the only hope to save the world, and when he gets there, he encounters an alien bug who is also a lonely astronaut on the same kind of mission, and they become best friends and work together to do their science thing and find a way to get back home. It is utterly charming, and everybody knows it. All these dunks are meaningless.

During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show. Using today’s vernacular it would absolutely be called“woke DEI crap”because it went against “norms” of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.🤷🏼😑

Video posted in January 2024 shows cornhole star Dayton Webber loading and firing a handgun. Webber is accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells in Maryland before driving off with the body in his car. The American Cornhole League has released the following statement: “The ACL is aware of the reports regarding allegations involving Dayton Webber. This is an extremely serious matter and our thoughts are with all those impacted, including the family and loved ones of Bradrick Michael Wells.” “At this time, this remains an active legal situation.
