@Connor_J_Hughes There is only one rational explanation for all of this....Joe Willy made a deal with the devil in 1969 and the #Jets will not win while he still walks the earth.

A few final thoughts from the #Jets victory over the #Bills on #MNF. They won the battle, but did it come at the expense of the war?
- If you'd had asked me what the most "Jets" thing that could happen last night would be, it would have been this: Aaron Rodgers going down. Still, I woke up this AM in complete and total disbelief of what actually happened. I've replayed the various moments of the last eight months in my head countless times since Rodgers injured his Achilles, trying to put into words on TV, or online with a column, the magnitude of what happened. Every second I'm reminded of something else: From the pursuit of Rodgers ... the intro press conference talking of the "lonely" Lombardi ... the promises of multiple years ... feeling like he's "waking up in a dream" ... the justified Super Bowl aspirations ... to this? It's all over after just four snaps.
Rodgers standing there, then giving the quick "nope" head shake toward the sideline before sitting back down, is chill-worthy. I can't comprehend why this team can't ever have anything go their way. Year after year after year. I wrote this last night: It's like the Football Gods truly do relish in torturing this team. The Jets deserve an immense amount of credit for pulling that game out, but they're waking up today to the sobering reality their Super Bowl dreams are shot. Again: After four plays. Four! Rodgers didn't even complete a pass before going down.
- There is some talk about what this means for Rodgers' future. I think that's seriously in doubt. The rehab for an achilles is grueling. Seldom are those who return from it ever the same. Is that something Rodgers wants to put himself through at 40? There's always been a tag when he talked about playing multiple years with the Jets — "health." Rodgers always said that at the end of every remark on his future. This is a major blow to the health.
- The hot topic across all platforms right now is what the Jets do now? They have to add a quarterback, so who can they go and get to get them where they once seemed destined. The answer: No one. There isn't a single player out there capable of doing what Rodgers would have. I saw Kirk Cousins and Matt Stafford's names thrown out there. Why would the Vikings, Rams part with them? They're not giving up on their seasons. In all likelihood the Jets will be forced to pick from a cast that includes Jameis Winston, Gardner Minshew and Carson Wentz. Maybe they could try to lure Matt Ryan out of pseudo retirement. There are legitimate concerns with each of those players, along with anyone else the Jets could target. Remember: This Nathaniel Hackett offense is complicated — incredibly so. Russell Wilson could never get it down in Denver last year. It took Rodgers himself time to master. None of those aforementioned quarterbacks worked with Hackett before. So you're asking them to come in, pick it up, then win the Jets games without even a partial offseason in the scheme. That is a tall, tall task.
- With that said: The Jets have to add someone. They spent this entire offseason & summer saying the only thing that can save Zach Wilson is a season sitting & learning behind Aaron Rodgers. Now he's their unquestioned starter. You saw how much the scheme changed with him out there. The Jets were legitimately afraid to even think about taking a shot down the field. You can't win like that. I think the #Bills got complacent once Rodgers went down and they built a 10-point lead. They never thought the Jets could come back, so the Jets took advantage of that. That's not going to happen in the coming weeks. Teams are just going to load up the box and force Wilson to beat them. I don't think Wilson can. Not yet.
- If there is any team suited for something like this, though ... it's the Jets. They studied 18 different quarterbacks this offseason before they decided to pursue Rodgers. They tiered those quarterbacks into what they'd help the Jets accomplish — Super Bowl, compete within the AFC, get to the postseason. They need to find someone in that postseason tier. They can't just give up on this year.
- The Jets will find out officially on Rodgers' status early this afternoon. Robert Saleh is scheduled to speak to the media at 3 p.m. Stay tuned to @SNYtv for complete coverage.
