Finished corn yesterday combining a variety plot.Thanks to Michele and Dan King for weighing off this plot. This corn was no tilled into a cover crop and the field had biosolids applied last fall. We were fortunate to receive some timely rains.

@farmerdoug93 @SoMN_Stripper how about seeding covers first,before manure, then notill into manure berms if spaced properly

@SoMN_Stripper This would need to be done early before cover crop takes off as I doubt we get much growth this fall this late.

Anyone try drilling cover crop into manure that’s been injected? Or am I crazy?

@JamesPieper10 @RickBieber81 Have you thought about planting into the oats without working the ground, there would be cost share also, for me there is no yield difference

Oats cover on our sweetcorn ground got knee high this year before we worked them in. 10.5 weeks of growth

Soil armor for drought or flood

@TZimmermanfarms was thinking about using one, but not sure about how it would be on small fields with fencelines

@LarryCowing Like it’s not even back there until you put yourself into a place that you shouldn’t have it back there. Other than a mistake here and there it actually isn’t a big deal.

What a way to spend a Friday Night. Why wouldn’t you want to farm like this?

Last night of covers after dark. Entire farm will have a living root in the soil thru the winter after these last 50 acres tonight. ✅ Now we just need a rain.

8 way mix water efficiency usage is incredible. Last rain was August 23rd. 3/10”.

My black beans that didn’t get flooded are doing well. These beans were no tilled into cereal rye .

@walberg_chris what was your timing for planting each one?

Oats and soybeans together...... using oats to help nurse soybeans along like in alfalfa... also helps IDC... time to terminate oats.

This corn was no tilled in to this years biostrips just before pounding rain . This field had close to 3 inches of rain after planting with parts of the field flooded. It is finally starting to look a bit better
