@ChessbaseIndia I'm not sure I understand the point here. Are you arguing that her "job" is to go out there and get a draw for another player's interest? If so, do you realise what you are saying here?

Divya Deshmukh has done her job! In the 14th and final round of the FIDE Women's Candidates 2026, Divya drew against Tournament co-leader Bibisara Assaubayeva. Divya actually had a winning opportunity towards the end, but she couldn't find it in very low time! The game ended in a draw shortly. With this result, a win for Vaishali now means that she become the Champion of Women's Candidates - and she has a close to winning advantage against Kateryna Lagno now! It was a tough outing for Divya Deshmukh at her first Candidates - she scored 5.5/14 points. But we are sure this is a tournament she will take back loads of learning from, and qualify for many more Candidates in the future! @aviv_lavi Gyokeres has been overplayed. Zubimendi too. Put this on the manager, and the constant injuries Arsenal seem to suffer

Some thoughts from tonight: - Gyokeres was horrible again, Havertz must start at 9 v City - Jesus stepped up when he came on. Looked great from the left - Zubi was much better today. No booking is huge - Raya very rash today (thankfully didn’t cost us) - Hincapie is a game changer - We miss Saka - We are UCL semi-finalists ❤️❤️❤️

“You’re spending 50% of your disposable income on a house a postman owned in 1917.” Rory Sutherland just delivered a brutally funny takedown of London property madness. He pointed out that people with good jobs are now paying enormous sums for a three-bedroom house in Fulham that’s essentially a boring, low-quality building — the real value is almost entirely in the land and planning permission (about 90% of the price). Meanwhile, we live in an incredible technological age where you can buy jet skis, hot tubs, and amazing consumer goods — but most of our money goes into owning a “shit house” in a good postcode. Rory’s friend has a flat in the Barbican and he gets that — it’s actually an amazing place to live. But most London housing? Dross. Rory’s friend has a flat in the Barbican and he gets that — it’s actually an amazing place to live. But most London housing? Dross. It’s like paying £60,000 a year for the parking space while driving a 1970s Ford Cortina. What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve seen people spend huge money on just for location?

@henrywinter Every team struggles after and before a CL game. It's fatigue and motivation. The manager, and luck are a large part of both. Play Timber, Saka, Rice, Zubimendi and maybe Gyokeres into the ground and this is what happens.

Arsenal have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear cripples a good group of players. And they are good players, we’ll see that at the World Cup, three have a very realistic chance of winning it (Raya and Zubimendi with Spain, Saliba with France). Rice and Gabriel are contenders for FOTY/POTY, Dowman for YPOTY. It’s just fear holding Arsenal back. That was clear with their nervy response to a more confident Bournemouth. Fear inhibits attacking instincts; wide players check back rather than attack, midfielders pause before releasing, defenders pass the ball between them rather than progress it quicker. Fear stalks the crowd. Fans can help dispel the fear by staying to the end and not booing a team top of the table. But really it's down to Mikel Arteta to confront this fear threatening to ruin Arsenal's season. How? Partly through body language: Arteta looks almost anxious in the technical area, transmitting doubt rather than defiance. Partly through selection: give the fearless Max Dowman a start wide, believe in Eberechi Eze more (nb injuries). Partly tactical: adopt a more front-foot philosophy, tell wingers to take on their full-backs, tell Raya to distribute the ball quicker; attack, make the opposition fearful, get Viktor Gyokeres in behind. Partly messaging: make it simpler, stating belief in the players, and less scripted “bring your dinner”; learn from Pep's mastery of press conferences. No need to panic. Still top. Still have good players. Just have to fight the fear. And believe. #AFC

David Raya outstanding. Two big saves, the first from a shot arriving at speed, the second from a header where his view was initially blocked. And one very important headed interception. Inevitable debate about whether Raya should have started in the cups. #SPOARS

Millwall vs Manchester City from this week in 1990, and a decision which may look very strange to anyone under the age of 40. Here we see an indirect free-kick awarded inside the penalty area for obstruction. Different laws. Different times.

@Johnnypapa64 Hoddle is easily top 3. No Kenny Sansom or Ashley Cole? Hughes , Beckham, and Jennings were good but shouldn't be anywhere near this list. Kane is nowhere near Shearer's level, and nor is Rooney

🗣️Gary Lineker on the large number of #Arsenal players withdrawing from international duty this week: “Interestingly a couple of Arsenal players have pulled out of this squad now. Both Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have gone. They joined people like William Saliba and Gabriel and one or two other players. I think Arteta is playing a Sir Alex role here." 100% and I have absolutely ZERO problems with this. Much rather they don’t play a single minute in a game that means absolutely nothing than play and get injured 👍

@henrywinter Did Southgate start him at RB in the last tournament? Reality is different players have different qualities relevant to different teams. England aren't Liverpool in the premier league. Dominating possession and high pressing without the ball.

Still can’t believe that England are going to the World Cup without arguably their best passer. Watching fringe candidates labour at Wembley highlights even more the nonsense of Alexander-Arnold’s omission. He’s a game-changing option from the bench. If you have pace out wide in Gordon/Rashford and Saka/Madueke/Bowen and want to launch a quick counter, TAA can deliver. If England are in a shoutout, he can deliver. Risk/reward. #ENG

A killer CF hits the ball with or after his first step. Thats when Trafford is on his line and you have a much larger open area to aim for Kai hits it after 3 steps. By that time Trafford has already closed him down and the angles favour the GK
