Commissioner, I do not know the context, but want to echo your comments that MS leads the nation in irrigation efficiency and a lot of dedicated public servants have made that possible.

I was disappointed to hear Gerard on Supertalk say that agricultural use of water is inefficient. Farmers in Mississippi are professionals in terms of water use. In addition, use of water to produce our food can hardly be labeled an inefficiency. No farmers, no food. No water, no food. As a reminder - you cannot eat data.

I’m pushing for additional FY27 funding for two critical projects in Mississippi – the Yazoo Backwater Pumps and Arkabutla Dam repairs. Azuria Water Solutions is investing $80 million in Batesville to build a new Underground Solutions manufacturing facility. The project will create 50 jobs and produce Fusible PVC Pipe used in water, sewer and conduit systems. Another major win for Panola County and Mississippi. We are devastated by the loss of Dan Fordice, husband, father, and business man who may be best known for creating Warrior Bonfire to help military veterans survive the effects of war and provide them hope for the future. “Pain shared is pain divided, joy shared is joy multiplied.” We mourn his loss with Ann Clare, his children, his brother Hunter, and so many family and friends. A painful loss of a good man.

Had a great meeting with leaders from the National Cotton Council to discuss my legislation, the Buying American Cotton Act. American farmers grow the finest cotton in the world, and it’s time our policies reflect that. My bill would create real incentives for American companies to source domestically, keeping dollars in our economy and supporting the hardworking people who produce cotton in Mississippi and across the Cotton Belt. Yesterday, MDOT held a meeting with Mississippi Transportation Commissioners and stakeholders on the proposed Interstate 69 project through our state. The interstate is designed to support international and domestic trade, moving commerce from Mexico to Canada. Since I-69 was designated as a High Priority Corridor in 1991 through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Act (ISTEA), efforts to build out the full project have faced funding limitations.
