The craziest part about where the Nuggets and we as a people find ourselves is that it is very likely that the Nuggets win this series with the guys that just went down for the wolves.

@PetersenWill The Wolves just had 2 devastating injuries to their starting backcourt. Nuggets ain’t worth a shit if they can’t close out this series now. Not sure why you would think this is bizarre.

Rudy Gobert always good for one miracle play you’ve never seen him do late in a closeout game against the Nuggets. this and that Peter Griffin turnaround in G7 are shit you’ve never seen 27 even attempt on a court. incredible feeling

I understand that losing Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo are huge blows, but the primary reasons the Wolves are up 3-1 are: - Jaden defense on Murray - Rudy defense on Jokić - Pace/athleticism from Ayo/Naz/Bones/Jaden Those remain unchanged. 11.5-point dogs is crazy

@MileHighMucker @DLineCo i’m a wolves fan but u gotta watch game 1 warriors wolves last year , same type of game warriors ended up winning w no steph then lost every game , although i think wolves would be more motivated and have a higher chance since they just need 1

@NuggetWatcher No one has noticed that Ant has been bad the whole series. None of the wins so far were from good Ant games. And the only half of data we have with these injured wolves, they won the half by 20 points.

Anthony Edwards unfortunately being confirmed out for the rest of the series only makes me double down on this take. That said, if we’re able to pull off the comeback we 100% need to win the following series against SAS/POR to justify the luck that we’ve been given.
Michael Porter Jumpshot@NuggetWatcher

I’ll proudly be the only one in the room saying Nuggets in 7. I don’t care how wrong I end up being, they’re my team and it ain’t over till it’s over. I’ve seen too much to fully count them out.

I think a reasonable moral case can be made for pressing blue based on the (fairly well-established empirical prediction) that a lot of people will press blue and if you don't also press it they could die, but it's a huge ask to get people to risk their necks to save the idiots.

I'm convinced this is just a poorly phrased question. If you pose it as: - Anyone who presses the red button lives no matter what. - Anyone who presses the blue button dies, unless > 50% of people also press the blue button. then it's clear that pressing the blue button is dumb.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

We did the red/blue voting thing and everyone else voted and now it's your turn. The vote tallies are suddenly revealed to you and the vote is exactly 50/50. If you vote blue everyone lives, if you vote red all the people who voted blue die. How do you vote?

@ConfoundedSoc @Regimepilled @peterrhague You're saying no to the simple and obvious fact that pushing the red button necessarily worsens the odds for blue pushers' survival. I agree that even with that fact, pushing the red button isn't necessarily immoral.

@MScottCooperCS @Regimepilled @peterrhague No. Their choice is unaltered by me pushing red. You want to make the assumption that 49% of people have already selected blue and my vote would push it over the top. Everyone has two buttons. They make their choice.

Amazing how lots of self appointed game theory experts confidently asserting that blue is the stupid choice. But every time this poll is run blue wins. Not only is the “game theory” answer predicting the wrong outcome, its explanatory power is based on it being able to predict the right answer. So it’s doubly wrong.

For those of us with “individualist” or “personal” morality, this comes down to how big of a sacrifice you’re willing to make; no simple right answer, and can’t be a moral responsibility, just an act of selfless sacrifice. Would I take a 1% risk of death to save millions of children who didn’t know better than to press blue? Yes. 100% chance of death? Probably. Would I take a 1% chance of death to save people who understood the question and pressed blue anyway? No. So I’d have to make a guesstimate (with whatever limited knowledge I have) of these variables and go from there. The real distinction imo is the people who frame blue as a moral responsibility. Many “blue pressers” said they’d press blue regardless of any of these considerations, just out of a simplistic or ignorant “knee jerk” collectivist kind of imposition. And…many said they’d try to force the choice on others or punish people who’d choose differently. That’s the dynamic I’m highlighting. I.e. blue *might* be the right choice due to facts and circumstances to rescue the less fortunate. It reveals something dark when it’s the default choice and comes with this implied threat of tribalist violence or when people try to force others to choose blue. It becomes a circular victimization argument. We must all victimize ourselves and one another…because enough of us are doing that.

As a game theory question, it’s boring and easy. As a political question, it’s fascinating and reveals a great deal about why democracies struggle. Superficially, blue looks like the collectivist, selfless, moral answer. And as you’d expect, plenty of people not only assumed that to be true, but moralized aggressively at those who understand that’s not factually true. Anyone who picks red is guaranteed to live, including if everyone does it. It’s objectively the better and more moral choice for most and to recommend to others. Blue is a kind of stochastic suicide button.

@ConfoundedSoc @Regimepilled @peterrhague It's not 50/50. You knowingly have to weaken the blue odds by voting red. It's like having to whack the blue platform's supports with a sledge hammer as you walk to the red platform.

@Regimepilled @peterrhague No. You have a choice of getting on one of two platforms. One is safe, the other has a 50/50 chance of collapsing. I am not forcing anyone onto the unsafe platform.
