@wjprescott It's tricky because the value of the state pension is surprisingly high, probably north of £300,000. Denying it to someone with £3 million in assets would be like a 10% wealth tax, which feels excessive.

We should also means test the state pension. If you have several million pounds in assets, you don't need an extra £12.5k from the state. The money would be much better spent elsewhere

I’m a huge supporter of Rupert Lowe. But if Labour get in because Restore split the vote, it will be unforgivable. if Burnham doesn’t win, he can’t run for PM. So why in the world would anyone split the vote ??

The only thing that makes me very slightly question the idea that Burnham is a shoo-in for Makerfield is that it’s the Westminster political and media consensus that he’ll win!

Didn’t surprise me that the latest More in Common poll shows Reform back up at 30% , but what did surprise me was that Labour were at 20% as I had no idea there so many benefit claimants and train drivers out there.

Sturgeon - Kuenssberg. This is strange for a number of reasons. Sturgeon's father-in-law died aged 86 in 2019. (No evidence of Sturgeon being at the funeral) Sturgeon's mum-in-law was 92 when the motorhome was repossessed. She quotes that they were in their mid-80's. You'd know if your mum-in-law was 90 ffs. She never saw it, she's seen pictures of it later in the papers and made the rest of the story up.
