Yes of COURSE there are people who voted Leave for reasons other than xenophobic bigotry or fading imperial jingoism. I’ve met at least four. But it felt good to be marching through London with the hundred thousand yesterday. And to be reminded of the decent half of Britain.

@josefbone @BBC6Music @shaunwkeaveny The point really is to have them attend the course. 8 weeks on a survey of human achievement is hardly going to turn someone into an academic. But it might add a little to their understanding of the world.

I’m going to persue the idea I just came up with on the @BBC6Music @shaunwkeaveny show that all politicians should have to pass a basic exam on all of human knowledge (let’s say an 8 week course) before they are allowed to take up their seats. It seems to be a popular notion!
