@2836P @jonnybraham @ZackPolanski I'm not saying zero inspection, at all, but the Ofsted culture is rotten to the core, and centralised control actually inhibits the development of regional excellence

@MarkKclassical1 @jonnybraham @ZackPolanski I’m not saying Ofsted is good. But if you think zero inspection (which is what he’s implying) would improve overall standards then you know nothing of human nature. (Yes, there will be exceptions) Maybe I’m wrong. What do I know.

Presumably because often many years go by between inspections and standards clearly slip. If you aren’t inspected for the best part of 10 years half your teaching staff might have turned over. This is clearly an area where there is room for improvement. Perhaps it should be annual?

@Mad48285088 @ZackPolanski @CordeliaAppleb1 A school clearly cannot inspect itself and expect it to be objective. Why do you think we have failing schools and poor teaching in some places? If schools were doing this job themselves, and doing it properly, that shouldn’t be happening.

@jonnybraham @ZackPolanski You seriously think that Ofsted has genuinely improved education standards in this country? What do you actually know abt it?

So let’s be clear You’re abolishing educational standards and just let every school get on with it Taxing all “ rich”people which effectively abolishes capitalism Nationalising every business, Piling more money into the NHS Abolishing our military, notably our nuclear capabilities Opening our borders to everyone Legalising prostitution ( your mother will be pleased) Legalising drugs Promoting Jews are racist if they support Israel’s right to exist That’s just off the top of my head Green Party in power = bankrupt, third world, defenceless Britain Who is seriously voting for this ?

@solace_eternal @MelanieLatest No, it's non-conformism, nothing to do with left/right or anarchy. It's being going on for centuries, usually when embedded institutional energies become stale or politically inconvenient.

@spectator No-one believed it anyway at the time, and those that thought there might be something in it, put it down to a handful of church-going immigrants bobbing around occasionally amongst the rest of the Boriswave.

Secularists are cock-a-hoop at the news that the “Quiet Revival” in British Christianity may just be a thing of nought. On Thursday, YouGov announced that a survey they had conduced last year which had found a striking increase in Christian observance, particularly amongst the young, had been flawed. Controls to filter out fraudulent responses had not been properly put in place. Thus, the results, which have driven a debate about a national return to faith, could not be trusted. ✍️ Bijan Omrani Article | spectator.com/article/why-ge…

HM crew here, about to wake up the congregation via 'Hosanna to the son of David', starting our Palm Sunday service in a appropriately splendid way. Later in the same service: Bruckner: Christus factus est. @HullMinster @HullMusicHub @RSCMCentre

Maybury School choir, performing at Music for Youth. They sang 3 pieces beautifully. Wiegala (Ilse Weber), The three Ravens (Ravenscroft), and Sea Fever (Ireland). Wonderful stuff. @HullMinster @HullMusicHub

Ilham Farah was 84. She was a Christian. She was a pianist. She played for her congregation at the Baptist Church in Gaza. Israel sniped her. Left her bleeding. Then a tank rolled over her body This is life in Palestine if you are not Jewish. Your existence is a crime

An appalling interview in so many ways. Silberman's narrative is intentionally simplistic and dangerously amorphous. Having a distaste for the behaviour of the Israeli gvmnt is not tantamount to antisemitism.

'I'm afraid these comments belong in the beer halls of 1930s Munich.' Director of Investigations and Enforcement at the Campaign Against Antisemitism, Stephen Silverman, hits out at the Greens over leaked antisemitic texts branding Jewish people 'an abomination to this planet'.

Edward Snowden said it the best: "When you say 'I don't care about the right to privacy because I have nothing to hide,' that's no different than saying 'I don't care about freedom of speech because I have nothing to say.'" "Simply because you are following the law, doesn't mean that you'll be exempt from governmental interference in your private life."
