If I were going to hire a Leafs assistant, I'd go after Jim Hiller (the man behind their ridiculous PP, which has been generating an insane amount of chances since he arrived, even during the 15-16 tank season)

The Kings were 3rd by GF% as well, so the results showed up on the scoreboard. The coaches with better results simply aren't available. The "he's too defensive-focused" criticisms are cringy. The results look great, and this team needs all the defensive help they can get.

The Kings ranked 4th by xGF% over the last two seasons, behind CAR, COL, and VGK. I think he got the most out of that roster. The PP was quite good during his time as an assistant coach here. He has head coaching experience and already knows 34/88. Makes a lot of sense to me

It is fair to question the Leafs HC hire, but if everyone learned one thing from the last regime, and some others before that, it's that you need the GM and HC to be fully aligned. You can't have Berube and be trading for Maccelli. They seem to believe that they are aligned now.
