@captive_dreamer @Cernovich More than that. In '24, Trump and every statewide R in Washington carried the district. Kent was, in fact, the only republican not to carry the district. In fact, every R has carried it post '08 Obama at the congressional and state-wide level except Joe Kent.

A Tucker Carlson / Joe Kent ticket would steam roll anything Democrats or Republicans could bring. It's laughable when people try to argue this with me. Spend some time offline. Good looking, physically fit white men are back "in."

@AnxiousGirl1328 @captive_dreamer @Cernovich Lies. He never "registered" as a Democrat. He voted for Bernie in 2020 primary a la Operation Chaos since there was no Republican primary -- at the same time he was a surrogate for President Trump.

This is a good example of talking about things you don't remotely understand as if you did. 2022: Establishment throws ~$15M at Joe to try to defeat him in the primary (he has ~$4M) and he wins but comes out with crazy high negatives and broke - facing a Democrat with $3M. General Election voting starts 6 weeks. DC Republicans - armed with three consecutive polls showing Joe up 5 points - offer no help and spend $8M on the district to the north that we lost by 8 points. Joe loses by less than 1%, ultimately outspent 6 to 1. 2024: Joe and DC allies ultimately raise and spend about $8M, but the now incumbent Democrat is the #5 fundraiser in the country and spends an eye-watering $23M plus dark money (c)3. The Republican who held the seat previously never would have withstood that spending disparity, and in the previous election, DC GOP had to bail her out with many more millions than they ever gave Joe. But don't let the truth get in the way of your engagement farming. Please carry on.

@Cernovich Joe Kent primaried the Republican incumbent in his district who had served for 11 straight years and then proceeded to lose the seat to the Democrats - twice.

James Talarico calls out “the groups” in the Democratic Party on immigration. “In recent years there’ve been a series of advocacy groups that claim to represent the interests of different communities like here in Texas, but actually have no real connection to the actual people on the ground. And those groups convinced the [Biden] administration that it was racist to support border security.” x.com/ElectTheBench/…

@jarvis_best I really like the work that Richard Poe did on his other books. But Julia Whelan in Stella Maris - I've never seen a character brought so vividly to life. Oscar-worthy.

@MattBraynard I love audio books and these were both narrated very well. Eduardo Ballerini is a magician.

I'm someone who places millions in media buys every election cycle. What happened here is criminal and should be investigated by the @DOJ. The commissions the federal government pays for media placement should be zero. All placement should be done by a handful of inhouse staff at zero; it requires very little work or expertise and compensation should absolutely not scale with the amount spent.

@jarvis_best The audiobook version defeated me. "The Passenger" was the first CM book I ever read and decided I didn't want to read another. And then I read Stellar Maris. By the way, I went through the audiobook versions; they were like nothing else.

@sahilkapur @MondaireJones Talarico is right. When Kamala Harris gave the most gentle, compassionate warning that maybe migrants shouldn't trek on foot to the U.S. and make themselves easy targets for human traffickers, loads of immigrant rights activists said she was no better than Trump.

In 2015, Disney called 250 IT workers into a meeting. They thought they were getting bonuses. Disney told them they were being replaced by workers flown in from India on H-1B visas, and if they didn't spend the next 90 days training those replacements, they'd lose their severance. Leo Perrero testified before Congress about it. Appeared on 60 Minutes. "Someone was flown in from another country to sit at my same desk and take over what I was doing. It was the most humiliating thing I've ever gone through in my life." Two workers sued Disney, HCL, and Cognizant for colluding to illegally displace American workers. Courts dismissed it. @HMBohemond Very true. Releasing a work of art into the world is like having a child reach 18 and go out into the world.

What Herbert and Villeneuve intended with their work is irrelevant because that's not what their work said. Authorial intent has limits when the text is finally presented. Don't write a hero then say, "Actually he's the villain." It doesn't work that way.

As someone who worked at Reality Labs: the Metaverse had real legs but was obliterated by middle management completely out of touch with how young people actually use technology. I built a V1 tool that game developers genuinely needed, and the moment it was done, it got shipped to a team in London (to die), and I was reassigned to a "higher-priority project" that zero developers asked for. Multiply that by every team, and you'll understand why this never took off yet cost 80 billion.
