@TerryTibbs95 @EconomyComments @McFlybowy Yeah and who were the 2 midfielders behind him? Essien? Makelele? Matic? Ramires? Etc etc etc. He was the most advanced "midfielder" on the pitch.

The right answer here is Steven Gerrard. Not because he’s the most technical (that’s Scholes), Not because he has the best numbers (that’s Lampard), …but because he gives you everything at an elite level. Gerrard is the only one of the three who could…..Play as a 6, 8, or 10 at world-class level, Carry a team with no structure and still dominate games, Decide big moments by himself….goals, assists, tackles, leadership He’s basically a system on his own. He wasn’t just “complete” he was situationally dominant. Whatever the game demanded, he could become that player in real time.

@HendrickD82 Why no to Elliot? A player who always gave 110% technical, smart, dedicated, and a fan. We need more players like him, not less. I'd rather have elliot over like most of our squad players.

@godwin62712 @EconomyComments @McFlybowy Sometimes he did play a 10, yes. But nowhere near as much as you're suggesting, his engine allowed him to play as a roaming 8 - meaning - he was playing in literally every part of the pitch when required, as opposed to Lampard, who was more of a designated 10.

@MattRed5 @EconomyComments @McFlybowy Gerrard played as a 10 mostly always behind Fowler, Torres & Crouch, and later on Caroll & Suarez. Cissoko 6 and Hamman 8. Later on Mascherano 6 and Alonso 8. He always played ahead of them as a 10.

@TerryTibbs95 @EconomyComments @McFlybowy Position on the team sheet is not equal to position on the pitch. This vertical slice of data disregards the team formation, heat maps, etc etc. It is ACCEPTED knowledge that Frank played the 10 significantly more than Gerrard. This is undisputed in real terms.

@MattRed5 @EconomyComments @McFlybowy Wrong, so very wrong. Gerrard played 10 more than Lampard. Lampard's insane goalscoring ability has made people think he played behind the striker, he didn't. He was an 8, a far better one than Slippy as well

@MattRed5 @McFlybowy Xavi Hernandez famously described Paul Scholes as "the best central midfielder I've seen in the last 15, 20 years,"

@ThomasF93619148 @McFlybowy Yeah but the reality is all that is hyperbole. If Scholes was playing for Crystal Palace, he'd just be considered a good player. Gerrard would shine in any team, Scholes wouldn't.

and Pep Guardiola says he was "the best midfielder of his generation" so yes I did compare him to Xavi and I'm backed by Xavi champion's league winning manager and the player himself, Iniesta praised him to. strange how he is rated in World/Euro Cup winning Spain but not by Idiots called Matt on twitter.

Bear in mind that the construction company ACS, owned by Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez, is included in the United Nations 'blacklist' of companies operating in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Pérez is a millionaire criminal contributing to the construction of Israeli settlements, which are considered a form of occupation under international law. The report explicitly states that the activities of these companies in the occupied Palestinian territories raise serious human rights concerns. Furthermore, the Spanish government has approved a new decree banning the advertising of products from occupied Palestinian territories or companies operating there. This situation has moved the pressure on Spanish companies listed, such as ACS, to a legal dimension.

Throwing Gio under the bus 24 hours before the biggest game of his LFC career so far. Anybody that still backs this guy has issues. You’d never get Jürgen saying this on the eve of a UCL quarter final or even in general. Ridiculous.

🚨 Arne Slot on Alisson absence: “We prepared for the game and if it goes as I hope, we don't need the goalkeeper but is that realistic? PSG score in all their games except for one. They are so offensive with quality and you need a good goalkeeper but for 35 mins at the Etihad, we didn't need one. I was hoping he'd save a few."

@perilousbanana @McFlybowy I mean he did re Scholes. Gerrard dictated games constantly, often on his own, he didn't have the support of an XI full of world class players United had during Scholes time. Gerrard had similar stats to lampard when playing the same position, and Gerrard was amazing DEF

@MattRed5 @McFlybowy No he wasn’t. Even in this debate, he doesn’t compare to Scholes’ ability to control and read a game; or indeed his passing. He doesn’t best Lampard as a goalscoring midfielder. He isn’t better defensively than several of his contemporaries. Very good at everything. 🤷‍♂️
